From the Waves to the Sea

The wise thing is to forget these waves, and to direct attention towards the sea beneath, which is without change. Then only can you attain shanti, swim about happily in the deep undisturbed waters.
Baba

How did I get into it, I don’t know? Does it belongs to the reality of sath-chith-ananda? We think so, when do we know?  He knows, when it is transcendental, he is the knower.
Going in direction of the higher self, it is insight and therefore, it is He, and that is his reality, transcendental, beyond the body and the mind and beautiful, the ocean of light.

'I am that', he is that, he is it. He is transcendental, he is the light, the love and the beauty. No body and no mind, no mine or tine, 'not this, not that', and the self is separate, a gap is between the material world and the higher self.

The End of Knowledge is Love

The end of wisdom is freedom; the end of culture is perfection;
the end of knowledge is love; the end of education is character.
Baba
How do we see it in our own life? That is not that easy to understand, because I write it down and I am not yet used to it. But in fact that marriage question makes come up everything happening around it.
When did it feel like marriage? When I became a TM-teacher it was in the air that it was about married, but I didn’t know where the husband was, I just forgot it and I didn’t think it was wrong, when I just forgot it. Only when it ended in a black hole, it was no more fun and it was too overwhelming, how did we get there, what is that black hole, it was huge and it seemed to swallow us, it was awful, it was scary, it was even worse, because there was the fear to lose the mind and the fear to die of tiredness, that was the result of TM.

Replacement Partner and the Friend

The Lord alone should be loved!... Love Him!... Meditate on Him! Finally, resolve that you be merged in Him. That type of acute desire alone one should have!
Baba

Baba explains in the Bhagavad Gita II and his thought for the day, that karmas take man to dizzy heights or throws him down to abysmal depths. All the good and bad of man are bound by the karmas. By karmas we can perform sacrificial rites or charitable acts. What is the result of these karmas? To take us to heaven; only to that extent. But there is something higher than this heaven on earth; the period of one's stay in the heaven is not permanent. One has to return sooner or later. It is only a temporary camp. And we may think we can enjoy physical or sensory pleasures in heaven, these might be slightly better than what we had enjoyed on earth. Nothing more.

Fullness, the totality; He can not be reached if it is not there

Devotion these days appears more as a way of spending one's time rather than as the royal road to the eternal mansion of the Divine. You need not make much effort to grow grass. But to raise a useful crop you have to labor hard. Likewise, it is no great achievement to experience the trivial and transient pleasures of mundane existence; it is like growing grass. You must strive to cultivate the nectarous and lasting bliss of divine Love. Those who aspire for such love are not easy to find. All appear as devotees. But the one who has experienced the Divine Principle will not go after sensuous pleasures.
Baba (thought for the day)

If we put him on a pedestal, he is God and we are man, that is not full.
Fullness goes beyond the mind, it transcends the mind. Fullness is the quality of the self, and everything is in it and it is bigger than the biggest and smaller than the smallest.
And there is no room for a second, there is only one and it tells ‘I am the One’.

A long way to understanding

One must destroy completely the awareness of the separate 'I'!... When you are firmly established in that feeling of One, you know that there is nothing separate at all.
Baba

After I began to write, I had to understand it, because there was no answer otherwise and nothing made sense.
And in thinking it over in Baba’s light of the thought for the day I began to get answers from the inside. There was a moment I understood that it works only that way.

Dharma and self-realization, finding truth

Death will not leave off any one, whatever he may be. It continues to threaten all; if it is another's turn today, it is yours tomorrow.
Baba

Writing it down helps to get aware of it, to realize it. Writing is listening, because we have to listen to be able to write and that is how we learn to listen, therefore, writing is good.
It is more than just writing it down, to realize it, it is listening and thinking it over and we get absorbed in it and if we get absorbed in it we get answers.

Baba Insights Leaving the Body

Man must gradually and steadily endeavor to acquire that victory. He must proceed progressively from the gross to the subtle.
The inner world is not as easily accessible to man as the outer world is. Perhaps, only one among many, one in a million, does contact and win this inner Atmic Reality.
Baba

There was a spiritual victory in form of the eagle, he is the king of the air, and it said that the eagle brings wealth. The picture was a lock. There is a key to that lock somewhere.
That is the problem about insights, it is the level of the dream only it is real, but we have to understand it.
It was like that in the time when Baba left the body, he was there always. There was no difference it was also during waking state and in meditation, only he was not in the body, but in the inner view. It was like a constant dream or like standing still, nowhere to go, just watching, nothing else seemed real, but it was inside in the inner view. It was just a time of sadness at the outside, as he left the body.
He also said that he is the king. There was a crown and his burial was royal.
It was the burial of a king. And he said also that he is on a place where gold and silver flows.
It felt like golden and silver curtains, it was flowing down.

Bhagavad Gita, Atma the beautiful mansion

Reading Baba's discourses in the Bhagave Gita II, gives me the answer about what Baba said. In the chapter "Atma Soudha is the Only Beautiful Mansion".
It seems that is what I was looking for, when he said: "I know what I am doing, get a big house". Or at least it feels like it goes in that direction. There is never only one answer, and until all are looked at, the object cannot be known, so maybe there is another one, I don't know...?
He tells in that chapter the story of a rich man, who got a beautiful house and asked lots of sages to be present for the inauguration. And he knew there were no defects in that house, but a yogi said, but there are two defects you cannot correct.
This mansion will one day collaps, that is the first defect.
The second one is, the owner has to leave the world one day and go. Death is certain.
Only whoever keeps the eternal atma thatwa in view, will enjoy ever lasting peace and happiness.
A mansion of atma is the most beautiful house, there is not greater and more beautiful mansion in this world.
Is that what he meant, when he said: I know what I do, get a big house?

Bija Mantras, and TM mantras and no insight

TM uses Bija Mantras, root mantras, tantric tradition, they invoke the deity on the finest level or the corresponding chakra. Mantras associated with the developmental cycles of life are based on age. These invoke the gods and goddesses of the first subplane of Cosmic Consciousness.

Sathya Sai Baba Interview

Baba said in that interview:

No difference in time, be focused, quality is important, not quantity. Fill your life with love, pure love, unselfish love and do it,
and you'll realize yourself.
And one of the present people asked:
There are your parents pictures, where are they now, your mother and your father?
Baba answered:
They are parents of the body, there is no mother or father to me. You have no mother and no father. Before birth, where is the mother? Where's the father?
Before marriage, who is husband who is wife?
After marriage there is husband and wife. After birth she is mother, and he is father. Before birth not. It is only physical, but to watch the real relationship is important, it is very important. The physical mother and father after 10, 20 or 100 years are gone. Real mother and father are permanent.
Truth is father, mother is love, peace is daughter, wisdom is son, devotion is the brother and yogis are your friends.
Detach from mind husband and wife. This is real, truth is permanent.
Truth is one, not two. Who is the father? Truth is permanent that is my father. Love is my mother, love is everywhere. Love is my mother, a permanent mother. Peace, peace means Shanti, it's my daughter.
There is only one religion, the religion of love. There is only one caste, the caste of humanity, there is only one language, the language of the heart. There is only one God, he is omnipresent.
There are no differences, but you will like it. Whatever he does, it's good for you. Good for you, not for him.
Begin with observing, start with I, then I and you = We, only we. We and He, then only He remains, only He, no I, no you.
That's my point.
There is only one God. Look at that: Two hands, five fingers and five fingers, two legs, a nose and many, many thoughts, but only one heart, the heart is one. The heart is God.
It has many religions in the world, but God is just the heart.
The universe is like a physical body, God is the heart. Whatever you want, you pray as you want. Different names, different colors, different state, different countries. Love is only one, keep that in mind, love is just one.
There is no difference, you see differences that is ignorance.
The difference is my God, this is your God, this is your God, that makes me ...
Death is sweeter than the blindness of ignorance.
Be careful, because it is dead. Say it: Death is sweeter than ignorance.
Someone in the group was repeating it.
Death is sweeter than the blindness of ignorance. Ignorance is a very bad thing.
And then someone asked, if there was a symbol for God and he answered:
The supreme symbol of God is love. There is no icon.

(It is a copy of the text spoken by Baba and the people in that interview.)

Superconsciousness and I; Baba interview

I listend to a Baba interview in YouTube and wrote a part of it down.
Baba asks:
What is special about the human birth?
Wisdom, Vignan, consciousness. There is first general consciousness, after sleep comes the dream state, dream is subconsciousness, sleep is unconsciousness, after is the state of superconsciousness.
You are superconsciousness, you are the super master.
Where is the master?
The master is in superconsciousness.
Follow the master, face the devil, fight to the end, finish the game.
Follow the master. Master is superconsciousness. That consciousness is the real you, not that 'I', 'I', 'I'. Look this is my hand, that's my leg, my head, my mind, my place, but who am I?
This is my body, I am not the body. This is my Mind, I am not the Mind. This is my mind, 'my' and 'mind' are separate.
This is my cloth, cloth is separate and my is separate.
The same is separate my body and my body is like this is separate from it. I am not the body.
Thinks in this way, inquiry, inquiry is very important.
How should we do it?
By gathering knowledge, information. Information and correct knowledge, but correct information, wrong knowledge is useless. First, right knowledge, second transformation. Transformation comes afterwards and that is the true result.
Information wheb only broadcasting, that is useless and a waste of time. Time waste is life waste. Time is everything. Don't waste time.

The principle of I never changes

In the chapter "The principle of I never changes" Baba tells in the Bhagavad Gita part 2, how to enquire into the nature of the I.

The shadow and the Sun

In the chapter on "the sun shines equally on all" Baba mentiones the shadow. He explains that also in a mud pot the sun shines the same.

God's power; and the five faults

In the Bhagavad Gita part 2, Abhyasa Yoga, Baba tells the story of Arjuna, who lost his strength, when Krishna left the body.

Bhagavad Gita Baba discourses, and 'I am that'

Trying to find the principle of 'I am that'.
In the Bhagavad Gita part 1 discourses of Baba he tells in the chapter "Consciousness - its Nature":
"This chit (consciousness) principle manifesting as chaitanya is manifesting everywhere, in you, with you, above you, below you. If you begin to search for and find this consciousness in the external world, it is not possible.
You can only recognize it by turning your vision inward.
Nethi, nethi, mind is not I, body is not I, like that the 'I am I' is reached."

'I am I' is observer only. Even if it is everywhere around, it is not outside, but inside. It is only subject, not object. It is experiencer, not the experienced. There are always three, observer, object of observation and observing.

Everything we can think of as mine blongs to the objective level, because the observer is different from the observed. My thoughts, my feelings, my body, my love... it is object, also my thoughts, he can be in my thoughts, because I observe only, they are mine, but not the I. The observed is different from the I who observes. The observer is watching, a subjective level and that is the level of 'I am I'.

In the following chapter about "The Nature of I" he tells:
"Whatever action you perform all of them belong to Me, for my sake, not doing them for your sake. It is only I who resides in you as atma.
The word I does not belong to the body, it belongs to Atma, it is reflection, resound and reaction of the Atma.
Whatever action you are doing for your 'self' (Atma) satisfaction. People get lost in delusion on my behalf and my agent.
Bhakti is the reflection of divine love, it emerges from the atmic level, it is a reflection of atma, it is never ever connected with worldly matters and relationships, such love is Bhakti."

The object, it is his, nothing is the I, all object are his. It is the observed, experienced as outside, all belongs to him only, and we do it for him and give it to him. Whatever I see as mine ... is different from the I, the observer and watcher and it belongs to the object of observing to him only. The observer is watching, my thoughts are not I, my dreams are not I, not even my life is I, it is mine, but it is not I. My insights, it is all his only, his lila and different from the watcher. So whatever I experienced, is is all his, nothing is I, because I just watch.
Who is watching the watcher?
It is the atmic principle which reflects on atma, not connected with worldy matters and relationships.
'I am I' is the observer, different from the observed. It is pure subjectivity, different from the object, which is experienced and observed.
'I am I' is the principle of the observer, and 'I am that' is the realization of the unifying principle in which we are all one on an universal level, 'that'. It is not 'I am I', but it is the realization that we are all one in 'that'.
I am that, you are that... we are 'that'.
What is 'that' experienced? It is love only, truth is love.
Sorry, I try to get hold of that principle to understand it better.

Love and tenderness, the gardner of our heart

Baba is love. That he told me, how I looked ... his wonderful love, making me feel good, feels like tenderness and thinking of him makes happy.
It is rare in life that we can make someone happy, it is that stupid to ruin life instead of just trying to make others happy.

Baba dreams began in March, inside presence

Baba dreams, during the time in Prasanthi he was inside present. I was tired, because I was not really ready to face that he would leave the body.

Freezing cold, empty Western shoe

Looking out there and seeing nobody, nobody to share, to touch, to hold and to reach, just emptiness.

I am Hungry and You?

When someone whose ways you do not appreciate comes near you, there is no need to find fault with him; there is no need either to laugh at him or show him your contempt. It is enough if you continue to do your work, unaffected by his arrival. Let those whose behavior you do not appreciate follow their path, leave them alone.
Baba

In that self was an intensity of longing I had never felt before. It went on in another job but just like before, but the following step was, that is said that it was a new birth. It was kind of incredible to feel the reality of a new birth in a totally normal job environment at that time I was working in a bank in Geneva.

We Carry him in our Heart

Men deluded by the attraction of prakrithi (matter) grope about in their ignorance of the Atman, and wallow in the unreal manifold world shaped by the three gunas. On the other hand, the learned man, who seeks the true Reality, gives up glittering falsehood and revels in the Atman, deriving shanti therefrom.
Baba

We carry you in our heart and he will be always there, our love, our fulfillment, life and our belonging,
He is the song of the heart, the music in our life and the rhythm in our blood and our heart beat.
In this child we find the secrecy of unity and the divine, always new, always beginning, the key of a fulfilled life.

Insights and the Following Step

The jnani will have no trace of hatred in him, he will love all beings; he will not be contaminated by the ego, he will act as he speaks.
Baba

It is about insights and how do we understand ‘insights’, because he knows, he is the insight and the following step. I went on meditating and was not aware that with that technique it was not possible to get aware of the insight. There was confusion between mind and transcendence and going beyond, what is reflected in the ‘insight’. They called it transcendental meditation, but nobody went beyond the mind, it was all in the mind.

The Empty Western Shoe

‘Like two golden birds
Perched on the self-same tree
Intimate friends, the Ego and the Self
Dwell in the same body,
The former eats
The sweet and the sour fruits
Of the tree of life
While the latter looks on with detachment.’
Upanishads

In the observer we find the detached bird just watching, in the other one eating the fruits we find the ego and they are intimate friends as the Ego and the Self and they dwell in the same body.
So one is acting and eating the fruits and the other is just watching. When it is about self-realization we have to get aware that actually the watcher is in charge and if we get aware that he is the doer, he also takes the Karma and if the Ego is the doer, he gets the Karma.
It is called ignorance if the Ego thinks he is the doer, because it is just body-consciousness and it has not much choice but going by the situation as it is, but it is the higher self that makes the decisions and transforms our life in love.

Village Consciousness

What is needed today is that we should lead a life of good quality. The fostering of sterling character and good conduct is the need of the world. Once we have greater numbers of such people of good quality, the country and the world will become prosperous and peaceful.
Baba

After I read the books of Yogananda Parmahamsa I was convinced that it was better to see in my parents God than to go on as I did before, not understanding them or not being understood by them or whatever that was, only when Baba left the body he said in my ‘insight’ that I had been let down by the family, so there was always something wrong about it.
Our neighborhood was complicated and my mother didn’t want to see it and with her the whole family. If it was my problem or not, they said it was.

Union between God and man

Baba said as much as man is longing for union with God, God is longing for union with man. I don't know if that is how he said it, because the longing would be it.
To get aware of being the same, how did it happen?
Following a dirction to reach and find the one.

Very Difficult to Understand

You are not doing service for others. You are doing it always for yourselves, to the God in you, the God who is equally present in others
Baba

A month ago on the way to Prasanthi, full of hope to go and see Baba, and then I just arrived for his final departure and to tell good bye.
Yesterday, I went to see my sister, she also had been part of the TM scene and memories came up.

A Baby was Born

Bend the body, mend the senses and end the mind - this is the way to Immortality.
Baba

I went to Baba twenty five years ago, after seeing him in the heart as the indweller, he was in the heart and I had to see him, it was divinity in the heart, a tiny small blue form, but it was his vibuthi and when  I left, I also left behind my life TM, and I thought it was over, but not after I came back because all was gone. It was a strange state. I had an interview with Baba and after that interview there was my mother and that love which felt thousand times stronger than the love of my mother and it was like a glove and he filled it out totally. So it was very strange coming back and feeling that loss, my life had changed too fast and too much and I didn’t know why and were the mistake was. I went on meditating not aware that with that technique to focus on the mantra only and to ignore thoughts I was cutting myself off from the insights, because it was not possible to think it over.
