Three Requisites Essential for All Advancement: Courage, Enthusiasm and Joy

Every village and town today is sick with animosities and petty quarrels. Even though many attempts have been made during the past years to better the lot of the common people, results have been far below expectations and expense. This is because of the absence of three requisites essential for all advancement: Dhairyam, Utsaham and Aanandam(courage, enthusiasm and joy). Nature has sufficient beauty to instill awe and wonder, to impart courage, to inspire enthusiasm and fill you with joy! It is a type of false vairagyam(non-attachment) to close one’s eye to all the beauty, plenty, mercy that you receive from Mother Nature, and to run around in sorrow, bewailing your lot.Be thankful to the Lord for the chance given to you to serve others and yourselves, to witness His Glory and Grace, and look upon all as brothers and sisters. The virtues of the people are the treasures of the State; the remembrance of the name of the Lord is the root of all virtues.
Baba

These words of Swami are very important and why? Let us think it over or look at it. He called the audience often embodiment of Atma or embodiment of Brahman as he addressed it in a thought for the day not long ago or he also called us embodiments of divine love.

He said in my dream that I should use his words’ and how are we doing that using his words? How can we use his words if we don't know his words?
But in doing it we find that it makes sense, by doing we learn and by using his words it grows on us and we think it over and are more able to listen and to absorb the wisdom in our own self. It is our own self-knowledge that is growing by that practice and we are those benefiting from it.

Every village and town today is sick with animosities and petty quarrels. Even though many attempts have been made during the past years to better the lot of the common people, results have been far below expectations and expense.

This is still true today and even in some spiritual centers we find it as well, we find animosities and petty quarrels instead of the three requisites needed for spiritual advancement. It is still the same today as it had been years ago when he was in the body and talking to us, walking in the midst of us, giving Darshan every day twice, he constantly tried to better the lot of the common people and the result is still far below expectations and expense and he explains in a loving way why it is like that.

This is because of the absence of three requisites essential for all advancement: Dhairyam, Utsaham and Aanandam (courage, enthusiasm and joy).

It is due to the absence of the three requisites essential for all advancement and if we see the beauty in it and we are grateful for what we get or got, we are also able to be aware of the three requisites essential for the spiritual advancement.

He is telling us in that way that we actually need courage, enthusiasm and joy if we want to progress on the spiritual path and the three qualities are essential for advancement.
That tells us maybe why he called us embodiments of the divine Atma, because it makes us feel good, it gives us strength and courage and the enthusiasm going for it and what we feel is joy. The joy in the heart was that strong in his presence that it was sometimes difficult, it was overflowing joy.
We should feel that joy? How do we feel that joyful, in thinking that he is God and that we are also God, we just have to realize it? Does that create joy in our hearts? Or does it create joy knowing that behind is truth and that if we observe and watch we get aware of the truth and it will be the same knowing we are on the right path, does that create joy?
How do we create in people good feelings, if that are the requisites for advancement. That is the main thing why we use his words, he has done it all his life and he was able to attract that many people from all the world. It makes the world a better world, it is the message of Veda, that we participate to create good feelings. That is what makes this thought for the day so important.

During the the study circle if possible I don't cut off or correct someone, if the aim of it is a good feeling, only when it is present as good feeling we can get to the aim of it and that is also courage, enthusiasm and joy.
Often it is confirmed by feeling his presence and we know we feel right and that it is right.
Why it is so important what Swami is telling us here?
Without it advancement not possible and it is good for us to focus on beauty and what we got from Mother Nature. It has to impart courage, and using his words make us inspire enthusiasm and we have to be able with using his words that we feel the trill of a heart filled with joy.

Nature has sufficient beauty to instill awe and wonder, to impart courage, to inspire enthusiasm and fill you with joy!

We look around and see the beauty in nature and it is such that it can install the awe and wonder, we should therefore be more aware of that beauty to be able to know how to get there, to appreciate the beauty of it, knowing we need three essential things to be able to advance on the spiritual path, courage, enthusiasm and joy.

It is a type of false vairagyam (non-attachment) to close one’s eye to all the beauty, plenty, mercy that you receive from Mother Nature, and to run around in sorrow, bewailing your lot.

If we look at that sentence and here Swami calls it a type of false vairagyam (false non-attachment) Vairagyam is detachment and if he calls it here a false vairagyam, it means we close our eyes to the beauty around us the plenty, the beauty and mercy that we receive from mother nature and we run around in sorrow bewailing our own lot.
We have to use discrimination, don’t we?
Why should we bewailing our sorrow? But nevertheless we have to be able to see it in our own life to be able to understand it, but we should not bewail our sorrow.
It is also about truth and we need to be truthful and honest about our own feelings and we should not make something up when it is not like that.
How do we get there to see the beauty, plenty, mercy that we receive from Mother Nature and we use that beauty and his words to get there that others feel the enthusiasm, courage and joy to be able to advance on the spiritual path?

With other words we can conclude that if we go on bewailing our lot, we are responsible for it that there are sick animosities and petty quarrels.
It is the same that we had learnt with meditation practice, if we don’t do it and we don't practice, we don't purify the mind and that makes us part of it, we are also responsible if we don't do anything about it. Keeping just silent about it, makes us responsible because if we know, we have to do something about it and what can we do about it?
Here we have to use his words to create those three essential requisites for spiritual advancement.
If we use his words, we are creating those three requisites and as you know we have to use his words, because he knows how and we have to listen to him, otherwise, we don’t hear it and we are not even aware that it is about the three requisites for advancement and there will not be any advancement possible if we don’t listen and we don’t know it.
If we don’t meditate and purify the mind or consciousness, the collective social consciousness or our common mind, we don’t do anything about it and there is no use of thinking that we are better, we are not if we don’t do anything about it.
Only if we do something about it we can create a positive effect in consciousness, that is why we meditate, we purify the mind and that are our office lessons doing our best taking care of it that at least our mind is purified even if we don’t know about other minds.
But here it is addressed in a different way still. He doesn’t tell us to meditate, to go into silence, to close our eyes and to purify our mind to create the three requisites essential for advancement.
If we meditate we purify the mind what is good, it will be easier to listen to his words and to get the meaning in his words if our mind is pure, but there is something more and it had been present as courage, enthusiasm and joy.
That is Veda, that is the same we find also in meditation.
The message has to create courage, enthusiasm and joy, because otherwise there will be no advancement on the spiritual path and what do we need for it, the beauty of nature, the beauty around us.

A way getting there is to be thankful for the chance given to us.
We go for it and by thinking over his words we get the deeper meaning in it and we find truth. The mind cannot be purified and transformed if there are not those three essential requisites for advancement if those are not there, we will not advance. We have to become knower’s of Baba’s words, we have to listen, think it over and absorb and that is what we are doing here.

Be thankful to the Lord for the chance given to you to serve others and yourselves, to witness His Glory and Grace, and look upon all as brothers and sisters.

We see the others as brothers and sisters and it can be hard if we find instead animosity and petty quarrels. If there is a fault finding mind in the midst of it, whatever the reason, there are always those finding faults, that we know also and the basic message is here how to create positive energy and a good environment in which it is possible to spiritually advance.

Swami explains it as the beauty of nature and that we should thank Mother Nature for all we got, the opportunity we have together to get there, to be able as we did with mediation before, we go ahead and create the three requisite for advancement. We have to get aware of the beauty, we have to make sure the three qualities are present as courage, enthusiasm and joy.
Swami knows how as he did it all his life, in using his words we get there.
It is the message of Veda, if we don’t do anything about it we are also responsible, we have to do something about it.
With our meditation practice we called it just meditate and all problems will be solved with other words, there will be courage, enthusiasm and joy, but it has to be always true.
In the dream stage the higher self was present and there was light and beauty and love.
Light is the absence of darkness, truth is the absence of ignorance, beauty is the absence of finding faults and quarreling and arguing and love is the absence of everything conceptual as it is only present when we have truth, right action and peace, pure love is the only thing that cannot be transcended.
Pure love is the reality of ‘I am that’, 'I am Atma', 'I am I' and it is non-conceptual being and we have to use Baba’s words to create those three requisites for spiritual advancement.
