We Need a Mirror

The spiritual aspirant should note the distinction between the conduct of the ordinary (sahaja) person and the spiritual aspirant. Rice in its natural state and boiled rice —can these two be the same? The hardness of natural rice is absent in the boiled one. The boiled grain is soft, harmless, and sweet. The unboiled grain is hard, conceited, and full of delusion. Similarly both types of individuals are souls (jivis) and humans, no doubt, but those immersed in external or multiplicity based illusions (avidya-maya) are ‘people’, while those immersed in internal or knowledge based illusions (vidya-maya) are ‘spiritual aspirants’. Though the Lord is situated in every heart, spiritual practice is necessary so that they may discover it for themselves, right? It isn’t possible for us to see our own face! We need a mirror! So too, a basic path, a spiritual practice, is necessary.

So first it seems all great and okay and it can change, can’t it? If we feel still the pain in the heart it cannot go away just like that and if someone is telling us, he is everywhere, it has no influence on our feelings by just listening to it or we even feel like running away, because it makes us feel rather worse than better, because if we would feel him everywhere, there would be no pain. What can we do about it? We cannot change the feeling level just like that, but sometimes it helps to sing or to meditate and sometimes it doesn’t.

In our daily life we have probably ordinary people around us and no spiritual aspirants or do you have lots of spiritual aspirants around you? Why Swami is mentioning it?
Is it to make the difference between cooked and non cooked rice, what seems very unlikely; it is just an example making us aware that it is not the same.
Even if divinity is in every heart, there is that difference between the cooked and uncooked rice. And we have experienced it. My ex to make himself look good he said that he meditated and he made himself like cooked rice and later we found out that he is actually unboiled rice, so the grain is not softened and therefore, his reactions are also not those of a spiritual aspirant. He seems in every way an ordinary person going to Swami just taking advantage of it. What does that mean, it is the man in our dream who is there to awake us who said so and we don’t get to the right answer if we don’t listen to his words, the words of his speeches and not what we think it is in our dream only. Only if it is confirmed by his words it begins to make sense and we actually do understand it. If we are in the mind, on that level he mind takes advantage of delusion, developing the imaginative faculty of the natural characteristic of the universe. How can we understand it?

That are Swami’s words and it is his sight of it and he doesn’t look at the mind the way we do. He said that they are just taking advantage of delusion and developing the imaginative faculty of the natural characteristic of the universe in self-elevation. It is not possible to understand it right; it is even difficult to recall the words he used. We have to think it over to get closer to the meaning of it, but it is about truth. He talks about delusion and do we know delusion?

He calls it the natural characteristic of the universe, the material world; Maya creates the illusion that it is real. What are people in that mind state doing; they develop the imaginative faculty of the mind in self-elevation. How do we experience it?

Though the Lord is situated in every heart, spiritual practice is necessary so that they may discover it for themselves, right? It isn’t possible for us to see our own face! We need a mirror! So too, a basic path, a spiritual practice, is necessary.

Spiritual practice is necessary to discover it for ourselves. If I tell you he is everywhere and he is also here and we experience it and you don’t because you are not part of it or for some reason you cannot share it, it will not change the pain in our heart probably.

Though the Lord is situated in every heart, spiritual practice is necessary so that they may discover it for themselves, right?

With spiritual practice we discover it for ourselves. We write and think it over and that is our practice as well. We need a mirror.
He is the doer and we have to accept that truth that he is the doer and if we accept the path of truth, we also have to accept right action and that is practice, we have to do it.
We meditate, that is practice and we contemplate and it is practice, we have to accept right action and truth, only if we have those three things, truth, right action and peace, we can get to the experience of pure love. If we understand that he is the doer, we understand peace. If he is the doer there is peace, if the ego is the doer, there is no peace.
We have to accept right action and it is different if he is the doer or if the ego is the doer. If the ego is the doer, the mind is taking advantage of the natural tendency of the characteristic of the universe to delude everything and it means the mind is in self-elevation, arrogance, self-aggrandizement, creating an ever bigger ego with the help of him developing the imaginary faculty of the mind.

That is the unboild grain and the not cooked rice and even if the Lord is in all hearts present, there is a big difference between boiled softened rice and a spiritual aspirant and unboild rice. Someone who is telling that he is actually meditating and therefore, cooked rice is fooling the others that he is a spiritual aspirant even if he is not and why that?
Nobody is usually telling that he is meditating if he doesn’t. My daughter doesn’t talk about meditation; she would never tell anybody that she is meditating. My brother who was once beginning with meditation, he makes fun of it, he is also uncooked rice, but he doesn’t tell that he is meditating. And that my ex it is different, because someone paid part of the course for meditation and that person is important to him, first he said that the whole course was paid and after that it was only part of it. He made himself look good and that is the just self-elevation of the mind when he said that he paid all of it, it made him look more important, but in reality it was not true. He didn’t get the message of truth. He is uncooked rice and he goes on telling that he meditates.

We get only a feeling for it why he does it, when seeing that relationship he has to his former boss. It is delusion, it was created because he wanted to please his former boss as that was not possible with truth, he recalled to untruth and in the meantime he is going on telling a lie even if we all know that it is not true. There is no change in his mind and he is only taking advantage of it, it has turned into a pattern that is how he went to Swami.

He is developing the imaginative faculty of the mind using the natural characteristic of the universe in self-elevation, it makes him feel important, it makes him feel good, because he wants to please his former boss still or what he represents and not Swami.
It is nothing but self-elevation and self-aggrandizement, telling everybody that Swami will give and in reality he let down his daughter and it is the opposite, he takes advantage of everybody in the name of it. He avoided to feel the feeling or to feel pain and said that he gave it to him, never questioning if he could give it on that level and if it was right or not, he doesn’t inquire his dreams and goes on telling that he will give, but he had long time ago a dream when Swami said to him that he will not give, that he lived a dream and that is his problem and not Swamis, but he doesn’t listen and goes on developing the imaginative faculty of the mind that the Lord gives and everything is just coming his way so that he can take advantage of it. But we know he is in self-elevation feeling good and great about himself, it is self-aggrandizement and a big ego, in reality it is the opposite.
He has not changed, he thinks by developing the imaginative faculty of nature of delusion is Swami and he is not able to discriminate between reality and delusion.

If we don’t listen to his words, we don’t get the insights. We cannot understand it as it is Atma level and as he explained not long ago omniscience is when waking stage and dream stage merged. If we are in the mind, we have to kind of translate it to see it the right way – the truth in his words and we have to go deep into the wisdom and that is what we are doing in thinking it over.
That is the difference between cooked rice and unboiled rice. It is a big difference even if the Lord is present in every heart, there is a big difference between someone who is an ordinary person and who is even thinking that it is part of his Lila to go into the imaginative faculty of the mind taking advantage of delusion and the natural characteristic of the universe just using it in his favor for self-elevation, making himself in the mind feel good, self-aggrandizement and arrogance.
It is not the same when we have Swami or the man who is present in our dream and we feel ‘home’ that is the heart level and not self-elevation of the mind thinking that we feel ‘home’ what is only imagination and therefore, delusion. It is not based on the imaginative faculty of delusion just feeling good about it when it is actually only an illusion.

Whatever we imagine in our mind is mind only, what is present as insight in the dream is not the mind; he said he is the insight and the following step. We find the right answer in thinking it over in the light of his words.
As Swami said, ‘I am the insight and I am the following step’. Whatever the insight, we have to find the answer and that answer we find in his words, that is why Swami said, ‘use my words’.
The mind is what is imaginative and we think it is like that, but we don’t know.
If it is not the mind it has to be based on truth, Swami is the doer, that he is the doer makes us understand peace, he is the doer and if we understand peace, we have to accept truth and truth is the difference between reality and illusion and if we accept truth, we also have to accept right action and right action is to think it over, we cannot understand words which are on the level of the Atma with the mind, we have to think it over and listen to him and go deep into it to find the right answer and only if those three things are there, truth, right action and peace, we can make the experience of ‘pure love’ and we have all the five human values, truth, right action, peace, love and non-violence.

Though the Lord is situated in every heart, spiritual practice is necessary so that they may discover it for themselves, right? It isn’t possible for us to see our own face! We need a mirror! So too, a basic path, a spiritual practice, is necessary.

Someone who is not into spiritual practice of just pretending to do it for whatever reason is not on the level to be a mirror and we need a mirror and that is why it is important that someone is a spiritual aspirant and an ordinary person will not be a mirror.
We cannot share our life with someone who is not a spiritual aspirant and think we will reach Swami that is impossible.

Though the Lord is situated in every heart, spiritual practice is necessary so that they may discover it for themselves, right?

For an ordinary person spiritual practice is not really necessary.
Instead of spiritual inspiration from my ex we get books about ‘think and get rich’ that is what he is thinking about and not about spiritual practice, if he tells so it is only to stay in touch and he got used to it, he functions in habits. In the meantime it is a pattern he holds on to it, no reality and it never has been. He is like Pinocchio, he is telling a lie and with every lie the nose gets longer and he cannot get out of it anymore. He has based everything on a lie and he goes on telling that lie, there is no chance whatsoever that he will get aware of it and change.
It is like starting with the wrong foot and now he has to go on always that foot first, because it is his business card or his spiritual card a kind of identity he has build up.
With someone who is not into spiritual practice and it means he will not have the experience himself, he lives in delusion, the mind is developing the imaginative faculty of the natural tendency of the universe to veil everything, it is all illusion only, and it is Maya. He doesn’t see the need to do spiritual practice, but he sends books about ‘think and get rich’, that is perverted. And we have to listen to Swami to understand it; he tells us what perversion is and why he said it is perverted.

There is no mirror if there is no spiritual practice and if we see the spiritual aspirants and ordinary people we can see why. 'You and I are we', that is the first step and the mirror. If there is no ‘we’, but cooked and uncooked rice, there is also no He and no I, ‘we and he is I’ what is the second step. If there is cooked rice and uncooked rice, one is into spiritual practice and the other not, one is with He and He is the doer and the other is uncooked rice and there is no He, there is only the development of the imaginative faculty of the mind thinking that the Lord makes him ‘special’ and better than others, instead of unity, a big ego only.

That cannot work and that is why telling that we are into meditation when it is not true actually is evil. The spiritual aspirants believe that he is also a spiritual aspirant, who would tell that he will do it all his life if he doesn’t do it, now he is capable of it.
It feels evil and like the devil, an evil thing to go a path of truth and to not care about truth at all. I had difficulties to understand why it was that bad and it got worse instead of better, but still I went on with meditation and we thought we could go over every obstacle in the mind with mediation. If we think we are the doer, he will take advantage of it and it feels like go on that serves me well, but it feels like the devil and it gives him more strength to abuse and to get us into hell. If we are meditating we are not into arguing, and it goes on and was there is no restriction and it goes on and on. It went on with mediation, but it didn’t work. In reality ‘he is the doer’, he is doing it if we meditate, he tell us how to mediate and he is the result of the purification of the mind, we do it because we know it is right action, but it is all his doing and not ours.

Probably with the flying sutra it was projected on the body level, it was the delusion of the mind that we do it if the body is reacting and that we can do it if we only meditate and do our program and Swami said in the dream, ‘I wanted to fly’, therefore, it is the divine will and not ours and body and by the flying exercise we get to the wrong level, it is the waking stage, body level and we forget that it is He and he is waking stage and dream stage merged in constant integrated awareness. He is the doer only if we understand it right, we can understand peace. Only if there are three things, truth, right action, peace, we can make the experience of pure love and only if there is pure love, we get the grace of the divine, we cannot get grace if there is no love, divinity is a tank of love and the individual is a water tap and the connection to the tank of love is ‘pure love’.

We cannot understand Baba’s words without thinking it over, he talks on the Atma level and we are in the mind, we don’t understand it directly, that would be mind only and he is not on that level and therefore, we have to make a self-effort and think it over to be able to get the wisdom or truth in his words. For a long time Swami was present in the body and they were singing only and as long as he was in the body that was it. But now after he has left the body we have to get aware of the truth is in his words and in thinking it over we get to the truth in his words. As he said today, we have to understand the Atmic principle.
We cannot understand it if we don’t think it over.

Love is my form, truth is my breath, bliss is my food.

Love is my form is present in singing, that is his form and truth is my breath and truth is in his words and only if both are present, his form and his breath, we experience his food and that is bliss. And everybody wants to be happy and that is the level of bliss or as Baba said it once in our interview, ‘where bliss is there is God’.
