‘Mine’ and ‘yours’ — these attitudes are only for
identification. They are not real; they are temporary. ‘His’ (All belongs to
the Lord) — that is the truth, the eternal. It is like the headmaster of a
school being in temporary charge of the furniture of the school. He has to hand
over the items when he is transferred or retired. Treat all things with which
you are endowed just as the headmaster treats the furniture. Be always aware
that the final checking-up is imminent. Wait for that moment with joy. Be ready
for that event. Have your accounts up to date and the balance already
calculated to be handed over. Treat all things entrusted to you with care and
diligence.
Baba (thought for the day)
Yours
and mine – are the attributes of identification. It is like ‘you and I are we’
first step, what Swami reminds us that first we have to be ‘we’, because as long
as we are on the level of mine and yours, it is not real. ‘You and I’ is on the
level of the body and the mind and as all belongs to the lord, we have to begin
with ‘we’ or ‘ours’. If we are on the level of mine and yours we are on a temporary
level only if we go beyond it and it is about ‘us’ or ‘we’ the right level will
be there.
As
our beloved Swami said, second step is ‘we and he is I’ and that means his
only, and all belongs to the lord only. That is the eternal truth.
‘Mine’ and ‘yours’ — these attitudes are only for
identification. They are not real; they are temporary. ‘His’ (All belongs to
the Lord) — that is the truth, the eternal.
Baba
explains it with the example of the headmaster in a school and he is in charge
of the furniture and he has to hand it over when he is retired and that is how
we should treat things which we are endowed with, we have to give it back, it
is only a job, it is not mine or yours.
It is like the
headmaster of a school being in temporary charge of the furniture of the
school. He has to hand over the items when he is transferred or retired. Treat
all things with which you are endowed just as the headmaster treats the
furniture.
Be always aware that the final checking-up is imminent.
Wait for that moment with joy.
That
is why our beloved Swami said, ‘you and I are we’ and we have to understand it
right, there is no reality in being only ‘I’ or ‘you’, there is reality in
being ‘we’ and when we add the divine message and his words actually, we are on
the second step and that is ‘we and He is I’.
All
those insights and that contemplation is only possible because of ‘us’, it
would not be possible only with ‘I’, because I would not have the inspiration and
the patience and the motivation to do it only for my own self. Even if it is
about self-realization, it is shared, it is not something we do alone, but it
is done together.
We
are two and we add the thought for the day and that is ‘he’, that are his words
and by thinking it over and contemplating about it every day and whenever it is
coming up again in constant inner contemplation about the divine what is
present in his words, we get to the insight and understanding of ‘I am I’, but
it is not understood by the mind and it is not what we think, he is the doer
and he is the knower and he is the giver of the answers.
Mine
and yours is not real, it is only temporary, but when it is about ‘we and he is
I’ it is not anymore temporary but real and he is present in every word he said
and he is alive in it and that is Baba’s presence and not ours. We and He is I,
it is his only, only he exists.
And
as we know we go back to him, we have all reason to look forward to that moment
with joy. That is why we should make constantly and every day again an effort
to get the message and to think it over and it helps if we see it in our own
life, only seeing it in our own life helps to understand it.
Be ready for that event. Have your accounts up to date and
the balance already calculated to be handed over. Treat all things entrusted to
you with care and diligence.
