The House on Fire

When the house catches fire, you run about in desperate haste to get succour and to put out the flames. But you do not realise that the fire raging inside you is far more devastating and devouring.
You must take up the duty of firefighting in right earnest and never rest until those flames are put out. Start the fight right now. That is Sadhana, spiritual effort.
Start serving your parents, teachers, elders, the poor, the diseased and the distressed. Do not foster factions and divisions. Promote love, concord, co-operation and brotherliness.
You all are in the state of bondage to the senses and to the objective world. Join the company of the good, the striving and the yearning aspirants and you will soon reach the stage of peace within and harmony without.
Baba (thought for the day)

When my house catches fire I get aware of the raging inside and often it feels like I hardly know how to put out the flames, just watch and observe and in writing it down I try to put out those hot flames or to get aware on what level that fire is devastating and devouring.
But I know I have to go for it and that it is my duty. Where it goes, I will know when I am there.
The duty of firefighting. Sometimes we think it is about trust and later we find out that it is about something else, and it is about another outlook or about inner harmony.
We don't realize how the mind gets transformed, we know only afterwards, when it is done. And sometimes it feels like heat and later we realize it is about knowing. It is mental processing.
It comes up, we question it and look at it and it is usually not what we think first it is. And what is reflected inside are the ups and downs of the mind, and sometimes it looks like a zebra, with black and white strips.

But you do not realise that the fire raging inside you is far more devastating and devouring.
You must take up the duty of firefighting in right earnest and never rest until those flames are put out. Start the fight right now. That is Sadhana, spiritual effort.

We all are in bondage to the senses and to the objective world.
Do we know how to serve that we can get out of it, how to open the sweet source of spring which feels like fresh water to the durst of the mind?
Do you know the inside fire and burning sensation and how to appease the hunger of the higher self, when it doesn't get the right food?
It is a fire, it is the thirst of someone being lost in the desert.
In the company of the good thinking usually about something else, we get aware of the energy we deal with in our own mind.
It is a way to see it as a firefight.
After going trough ups and downs, finally we get to that cool inner distance. We had to put out the flames, but it is only possible, if we have done our duty and we fight that fire and get aware of it, knowing that we have to face the reality of our own mind and that it will not be the last fire we have to fight, always ready to go for it again.
And it feels raging, and it feels hot, burning and unbearable and too much and ... we have to realize that it is the devastating fire of our own mind.
