Source of Bliss and the Individual Experience

Just as underground water is the sustenance of all trees, the Atma is the underlying source of all the bliss that the individual experiences. The process of digging a borewell to bring the underground water to surface level involves steady hitting, digging, and thumping through a pipe which holds and directs the drill. The people who do the boring take a lot of care to ensure that air does not go into the pipe, for then the drilling process becomes unsuccessful.
Finally through a lot of effort, you bring the subterranean water to the surface level for human consumption. So too, you must undertake the repetition of the Lord's Name (Japam) very intensely taking care that you do not allow the attachment to worldly objects (Vishaya vasana) to enter and interfere with the process.
Baba (thought for the day)

If we talk about inner view our 'mind' thinks that it is like seeing with the eyes. If it would be like with the eyes, we just could close the eyes and it would be inner view, but it is not like that.
Thinking about dreams, we know that our subconscious is awake in it and that we don't just understand it with the mind, but it needs lots of skill to know the meaning of our dreams.
The inner view is our subconscious awakening, it is the inner master and we have to learn to understand it and for that reason we need discrimination.

If we try to understand what it is inner view. Think you meditate for years and by that you dig a habit in your subconscious being and that gets established like a mirror, it begins to reflect and that is the inner view, it is what you see in that mirror.
If we get aware in the dream of a 'mud hole', first we were just scared about it. It happened during the time Baba left the body. That mud hole felt awful big and scary and my small daughter was lost in it, that made it even worse. I had to leave the hole and she was already covered by it.
That was the inner view colored in my own mind, but nevertheless, it is Baba's voice behind telling me, 'and what now?'
How do I understand it right? In thinking it over and over again, we are digging into it.

The process of digging a borewell to bring the underground water to surface level involves steady hitting, digging, and thumping through a pipe which holds and directs the drill.

It is in that sense two fold, if we repeat a mantra constantly we dig through the mind and go beyond and by habit that mantra transcends the mind and it created that mirror and in that mirror after some time there is a reflection and that reflection has to be seen in the light of the higher self and it goes in direction of that drill, but is has to be understood on that level. That needs practice and only one who has done it and practiced will be, even without noticing it, seeing inside colors, insights, visions, pictures, dreams... and Baba dreams.
What is the difference between just a dream, between mind and reality?
That is the difficulty and we have to develop discrimination.
Baba tells when he is in the dreams it is real, it means the dreams is like a key, it tells us something, but it is not 'Baba the form', but Baba the divine reality we have to understand and see as different from the mind.
In writing and thinking about it we get to that reality behind.
If Baba is in the dream, it is not just a Baba dream, but it has to do with reality as opposed to illusion.
What is illusion and what is reality and how do we know, if it is just present in a dream? In questioning it, in self-inquiry we find after some time thinking it over again the reality in the vision.
It is a reality which wants us to wake up and it doesn't mean as we could think on a mind level, that Baba will tell us inside, 'wake up'.
Why constant digging?
Because it grows in time, the meaning gets clearer as time goes by and we understand it better in the context of reality, the divine reality of Baba. If I read it with the mind I might think that Baba tells me, 'it is time, wake up'?
That is what the minds thinks when we talk about waking-up, but in reality it is constant digging.
The problem is, if we understand it with the mind, we think it is understood, we can put it aside and don't have to bother about it anymore. The mind concludes wrongly that we don't have to even think about it, it is all done and that is an illusion.
If we listen to the mind, we do not dig, because the mind thinks there is nothing to be done. Do you get the point?
It is not likely that we will understand Baba properly and get to the right conclusion, if we don't do that digging. If it is meditation, chanting, singing, self-inquiry, if it is listening and thinking it over, it is service, love in action, but it is not doing nothing and if we just sing once a week Bhajans it is like taking some sun, going into the light, but it is not enough to realize that we are that light.
Sadhana is that constant digging, meditating and regularly morning and evening. There was once someone who said that he did repetition of the mantra and he asked Baba how long he should go on with that Sadhana, regular practice and it seems he said, for the next 200 years.
It is not possible to get to bliss and Atman if we do not practice and it is not possible to understand the insight without self-inquiry. It is not just everything answered and we don't have to do anything at all and everything is clear or we can leave everything to him and we can do nothing ... That is wrong understood.
He is the doer in the sense that we should not be attached to the result, because it is his.

Steady hitting, digging, and thumping through a pipe which holds and directs the drill. The people who do the boring take a lot of care to ensure that air does not go into the pipe, for then the drilling process becomes unsuccessful.

How do we understand that air getting into the pipe and why it becomes unsuccessful if we do not take a lot of care to ensure it cannot happen? Does it work if we are not careful and leave it to him to be careful? That will not work. He will not be careful for us. We have to do it.
If he warns us and we do not listen or we do not know how to listen, we have to make the experience and it will not be pleasant, because he warned us.
The mud hole is the result of that warning and he still doesn't understand it and that creates mud, whatever is said, it is not okay and not on the right level.
If he warns us in the dream and we think it is only the mind, it is dangerous, because it is not the mind, it is him and we do not have enough discrimination, it means we don't practice, we think he is the doer, he will dig for us the pipe and we have nothing to do but watch and lie back and enjoy.
Do you really think that is right? Do you think he will dig the hole for us?
He is the Atman and in that sense the doer, nothing exists without him, but the hole we have to dig ourselves. He can give us an apple tree and an apple, but we have to eat it and we have to look after the tree and water the roots. He is not doing it for us and if we forget it and the tree doesn't get enough water, we will nave no tree and no apple. He gave us discrimination and the intelligence to use it.
If we understand that he is the doer and think why should we meditate and go to big assemblies to purify consciousness?
It would not make any sense, because we could just leave it to him.
If we meditate together a thousand people the effect in consciousness grows, because there is no difference, there is only 'oneness'.
If we are not careful and eat the apple too late, it is spoiled already and we cannot eat it anymore. We have to use discrimination always and often it is just common sense, but sometimes it is not.

It means in the inner view in the dream can be a mud hole and it takes a lot of time to understand that mud makes it impossible for the ego to realize that it is the ego.
Just now during that discussion, we get it why there was a mud hole..., just now. We had been in the same house with someone and my ex began to discuss matters with her and it didn't last long, it didn't work and we left and she said to me that he likes to argue.
For that I was the wrong person, because I am not arguing, because it doesn't make sense, we cannot argue about highest knowledge.

But we have to see the debates of Shankara who knew the wisdom that well that he went into arguments and learned disputations with teachers, but of course, it was never on the mind level and it is a question of being able to do that and he was brilliant and better than anyone else.
But with my ex because I didn't answer and we didn't argue, it always got worse and usually I said, Baba will find a way, because we had met together in Baba's presence.
But he went on arguing and in the end he went that far that he questioned what Baba said. He said the opposite of what Baba said to get on the level of arguing. But we said nothing anymore at all and left and after that I always just wrote, but by writing, because it was the question about 'Baba's Lila', we noticed it ended up in a mud hole, I got only stupid answers back, never something which really made sense.
He wrote that he goes the path of least effort, he went on taking advantage of it, went to the sister's house, he could live there and as she was also alone, it arranged both of them and that is how he went on.
The first years he ignored whatever I said about Baba's Lila and that is how it began the mud hole, but because I had to follow the master, fight to the end and finish the game, it had become the opposite. He ignored it.
Baba said in his daughters dream she was six that he was stupid and doesn't know what he is doing and that he is destroying himself and if she will go back to him, he will destroy her too.
That means we couldn't go back, that was Baba and the way I had spoken about it. Baba said during a speech inside that we didn't listened and that we had to get a divorce.
Trying to communicate it to him I noticed that it was impossible, but because of Baba telling me inside, when I went to him next time, even if it was for another reason, I had the divorce papers with me, so he could sign the agreement, the path of least effort, that worked.
But it was difficult to go along with it, because it created doubt and doubt is spiritual ruin.
When I realized that it created doubt, I didn't and felt too tired to get aware of the insight, it felt like a nightmare and therefore, I didn't realize why Baba said that I had to come to him to make peace with him. And in that peace making we are now.
Doubt has been the result of the relationship, because I thought Baba made it and getting aware of it is healing ... or understanding it.
Baba said in the inner view that he is the insight and the next step, but it took a long time to see the relationship between the insight, ruin in the air during dream and that he came in his dream and said, I should go to him to make peace with him.
Therefore, I couldn't tell him why we had to go to Baba, but I was glad I could go and the warning was that big, we couldn't go back, there was no way back.
He is not aware of the tendency to argue, he is not aware of what he is doing. Baba gave him another dream, just before we left and took the plane to India. Baba said to me in his dream that I should go back to my 'lovely' husband.
He was constantly nasty, finding faults, never stopped to harass and to talk and to criticize, he was making fun of it that I was that stupid that I had to go to Baba and make peace with him.
I didn't say a word, I was scared he would not let us go.
He was not only not aware of what he did, he really thought that he was a lovely husband, just because I didn't answer.
There was nothing lovely, not the way it felt to me and we didn't argue, didn't go into it, he was lovely and he didn't see that he was constantly creating troubles.
For my birthday he wrote, 'just be happy'.
That is Baba, but when I get aware of it and in his light it feels like a joke... and it rather makes feel like throwing up and that is no more Baba, but hypocrisy, that is why a mud hole.
He tells, 'just be happy' after he created only problems for us for I don't know how many years?
He didn't care about his daughter or anything else, took just advantage of it, whatever that was, what he could take advantage of, it was Baba who said it.
I didn't answer, because silence is the best answer. That guy doesn't know what he is doing. That is the awareness I have met on the level of devotees. At least he eats no salt and no meat and thinks that makes him a great devotee and he is good in thinking very highly of himself of course...? What else?

The process of digging a borewell to bring the underground water to surface level involves steady hitting, digging, and thumping through a pipe which holds and directs the drill. The people who do the boring take a lot of care to ensure that air does not go into the pipe, for then the drilling process becomes unsuccessful.

We have to dig and go on digging and steady hitting and thumping through a pipe which holds and directs the drill and even if we were boring and still are boring, we were not careful enough and my ex was that air coming into the pipe and the mud hole is nothing else but it turned everything around in the opposite and in became unsuccessful, instead of bliss a mud hole.
That is why Baba tells us, 'always be careful', but whatever we do and as careful we are, if we don't know, we don't know.
