Expand and Care

Just as the body is the house you live in, the universe is the body of God. An ant biting the little finger of your foot draws your entire attention to the spot in a split second, and you react to the pain and make an effort to remove the tiny enemy immediately. So too, you must feel the pain, the misery of the people, in the society around you.
Pause for a moment to calculate what good you have done to the society that is helping you live your life comfortably. Do not fritter away your talents in profitless channels. You should not be a burden on others, or an enemy to your own self.
Expand your sympathies to serve others, who stand in need, to the extent of your skill and resources. Be kind to all your kith and kin.
Baba (thought for the day)

It is kind of comforting to think of that universe as body of God, sometimes I see it rather as a scary monster and I don't know how to calm down.

Worries we tried to handle with meditation and equanimity and for some reason, it was the inner master himself who made the worry come up again. I guess it is just helplessness and not just about equanimity, but about feeling it.
Life is fragile and that is how we get aware of it. I try to feel it.
What about getting aware of our own worry before getting aware of the worry of others?
I guess if we are not aware of our own pain, how can we be aware of the misery of people in society around us?
If we are not aware of our own stuff, we will not get aware of how others feel. And if we are not watching, we will not get aware of the feeling of others.
We need to realize ourselves before we can feel the others and even then we still see only the appearance of it.
In that sense the question comes up what are profitless channels in that light?

Do not fritter away your talents in profitless channels. You should not be a burden on others, or an enemy to your own self.

The burden to others seems quite clear when we see someone only creating problems instead of being helpful and being an enemy to the own self, is destroying the self instead of realizing it.
So we try to put our talents in the right channels.
I don't know others in need, but maybe I am not looking around enough and I am not searching for it. And to the extent of my skill and resources that seems anyhow limited.
If we cannot solve our own problems, what about solving the problems of others? It seems kind of far away all that.
But of course, we can sell them meditation and in telling that all problems are solved if they meditate, we have a valid reason to go in that direction.
There are always some which are going to believe it as long as it lasts, of course, it is not for eternity, because in their lines we will find for sure someone creating enough problems in not living upto the ideal of Sathva, turning it upside down into Tamas, so that it will be no more possible to solve anything and least those newly created problems.
And that is how they get tricked out by their own tricks.
