Upside Down, the Pig and the Mud Hole

But, Indra, in the form of the pig, replied, "Narada, why are you coming in the way of my happiness? The joy that I am getting in this dirty water I will not be able to get anywhere else. The wonderful life that I am enjoying here with my wife and children in this mud hole I cannot even get in heaven. Why have you come here to meddle with my life and get in the way of my joy? Please go your way and leave me be."
Indra, who was under the spell of the illusion of attachment, did not realize his pitiful condition.
Narada had to summon Indra's own weapon, the celestial thunderbolt, to render that pig body asunder and free a much-relieved Indra from his prison of attachment and body-consciousness.
When you are under the spell of attachment; you will be completely deluded. This delusion is due to the irresistible power of maya, which veils your truth and keeps it hidden from you.
If you want to destroy this power of illusion, you must develop your knowledge of the true self.
Therefore, Krishna took it upon himself to start out his teachings by instructing Arjuna in self-knowledge. It is only after you have the direct experience of your eternal self, that you can truly do your work and discharge your duties properly. Without this knowledge you will not understand even the mundane daily activities relating to the world.
Baba
I don't like that Baba Lila and how it looked in the past. But it is not really about liking I guess, but about realization and we have to know the difference.
The problem began when the TM leader, who felt like a friend, made the yogi appear as the opposite. It was all upside down and Tamas, but somehow it didn't seem to make sense that the master was overshadowed by it.
What seemed to be sathva was not and what was Tamas was also not 'that'. It became real difficult.
We had lived in the idea of sathva. As it was all upside down, the question was why, it seemed not to make sense, if we don't look at that story of Indra and the pigs and think it is also kind of similar, maybe, could be.
And Baba said it was very difficult to understand. It didn't make sense, it was upside down.
I guess that is why we went into it. We went into an experience of Tamas to get out of it again and find Sathva.
Once Indra and his friends were travelling, going on holiday.
They looked down and they saw all these pigs living in a terrible condition. Indra told his friends : «My God! look at those pigs, why are they living so horribly? I will go and teach them how to live nicely».
In order for Indra to come and teach these pigs, what did he have to do? If he was to appear in shining light in front of the pigs, the pigs would be so scared, squealing and running away. So Indra came as a pig to teach them.
After some time, Indra’s friends said : «Let us go and see what progress Indra is making».
They were horrified with what they saw! They came and said to Indra : «Indra, why are you in this condition? We thought you came to reform these pigs? !» «What are you talking about?», said Indra. «I am a pig, this is my wife, these are my children and we have all this food here, we’re having a wonderful time ! Don’t bother me, leave me alone!»
Life after life after life we have been conditioned to feel that we are this body, this mind, this ego, this individual. Like Indra we have forgotten our true nature, which is existence, knowledge and absolute bliss.

It also seemed somehow not possible to end it before Baba did. It needed to be confirmed that it was over.
It feels like in the story above he had to come and set an end to it.
It had something similar to Indra, a God, who took the body of a pig to teach pigs. As pig he couldn't realize the higher self.
He would have been lost in that body if Narada would not have destroyed the illusion with Indra's own weapon.
It is not your passing thoughts or brilliant ideas so much as your plain everyday habits that control your life....Live simply.
Don't get caught in the machine of the world— it is too exacting.
By the time you get what you are seeking your nerves are gone, the heart is damaged, and the bones are aching.
Resolve to develop your spiritual powers more earnestly from now on. Learn the art of right living. If you have joy you have everything, so learn to be glad and contented....Have happiness now.
