You have to seek love only through
love. The Gopikas prayed: “Oh Krishna, play Your sweet flute and sow
the seeds of love in the desert of loveless hearts. Let the rain of love fall
on earth and make the rivers of love flow.” The rivers of love must flow
continuously. It is enough, if you can understand this one principle of love.
This love is everything. Treat this love as the be-all and end-all of your
life. Do not direct your love towards material objects. If you continue to love
for love’s sake, then such a love will be eternal. It is not the body that is
to be loved, but the principle of love. All the names and forms are evanescent
and impermanent. Love directed towards temporary objects or beings is physical,
whereas love for love’s sake is eternal. Love is God. You must attain Divinity
with such love.
What
would you do to be able to listen to his words? Probably we don’t have enough
patience to be in a waiting state and therefore, there is no feeling for it or
no desire to think it over or we would like to think it over and are not able
to do it, that is more likely for a normal state of mind. We are not in the
waiting state Baba always said we should be and for sure not in the West and
usually we are not in the mood of thinking over his words.
It is
not that we don’t want to listen to it, but we are just not able to do it. We
get too tired, too busy, too occupied, no time and no space in our mind. And
even if we would like to listen to his words, and even if we know after doing it
for some time that there are great insights and by doing it we get to even
greater insights and we find enthusiasm and everything else what Swami is
talking about and most of all love and his presence, we still don’t do it,
because we are in the mind.
You have to seek love only through
love.
How do
we get to that pure love and if there is pure love, we want more of it as he
explains in the next sentence, it has to flow.
And he
tells us to seek love through love and he used the word ‘seek’ and not stop to
seek and we have to use his words, it helps to avoid confusion and using the
wrong words.
It means
probably that we think because we were with him in Darshan that we reached him
and now it is all done, we just can relax, but that is not it.
That is
what we think because in his presence we didn’t need to seek for it, he is love
and we experienced that love because of him, but now we have to seek for it,
because he is not just walking the Darshan grounds anymore, but if we listen to
his words, that is what he is telling us, the word is ‘seek’.
We got used
to be able to go to him and to find it there, that we had no idea that one day
we would be forced to find it in our own self.
The Gopikas prayed: “Oh
Krishna, play Your sweet flute and sow the seeds of love in the desert of
loveless hearts. Let the rain of love fall on earth and make the rivers of love
flow.”
The
deserts of the heart, does that tell you something? I wondered about that dream,
there was a desert and a statue in that desert and a big red hand above it with
black long nails. It didn’t make sense and I thought where is that hand coming
from and why a desert and a statue in the desert?
I just
knew that it had to do with Swami.
We don’t
know the heart that well and I knew I didn’t know how to find him, not in the
center and not somewhere else and it was disturbing and if I wanted or not, it
didn’t feel normal, but disturbing and how to find him?
He lives
in our heart and if we cannot find him, we don’t find him. We think we know
where he is or like you called it divinity is non-conceptual, only that is not
the experience of the heart that is the intellect. If we are in the desert of
the heart the rivers of love don’t flow, that is the insight. If there is a
desert, we don’t have the constant flow.
The
desert in the dream is also an insight and insights reflect our own state in
the heart and we don’t know our heart good enough and we can realize that by
thinking over we remember the dreams and we do not only get aware of the
insight, but by thinking it over we actually question it and the feeling has
changed, we get a different feeling for it and the dream which just a moment
ago didn’t make sense, makes sense now.
The rivers of love must flow
continuously.
Here
Swami emphasize is on ‘must flow continuously’. At the beginning when thinking
it over once it was about continuity and he answered in the dream that there
was no flow and if there is no flow, there is no continuity.
It is enough, if you can
understand this one principle of love.
Does he
tell us that it is a feeling? No he doesn’t.
What
happens in our mind when we think about love, we think we have to feel it and
that the intellect and our understanding it is in the way. That is what we
think and it is what we think he is telling us and what we hear and we just
read it and we are not awake enough, but when thinking it over we get aware
that it is not true, he tells us not to feel it, he tells us to understand the
principle of love and that is just the opposite what our mind thinks and our
mind conclusion and we are not aware of it, but we do get aware of it if we listen
to Swami, and if we don’t listen, we also don’t hear it and stay in a wrong
mind conclusion.
This love is everything.
And again
we think what love, this love and we think it has to be felt, what is right,
but he doesn’t tell us how we will feel it, but he is telling us that we have
to understand the principle of love and that is understanding first and a
principle and only when we get that principle in our mind we are able to make
the experience of ‘pure love’.
He said
how, first we have to understand peace, we have to accept truth and we have to
accept right action and only if we have those three things, we are able to make
the experience of ‘pure love’ and did he say something about feeling, no he
didn’t.
Treat this love as the be-all and
end-all of your life.
We have
to cleanse the ideal, we know it is love and the question is how to experience
it, he is the best example that this divine love exists.
Our mind
thinks love is a feeling, feel it and that’s it and that is not what he is
telling us here and therefore, it is a wrong mind conclusion, it is not true.
If we
listen to his words we get aware that he is telling us that we have to
understand the principle of love, that is the Atmic principle, it is related to
oneness and to divinity and it is not just a feeling.
And
because that is not so easy to understand for the mind he is telling us to not
direct it towards material objects. Our mind is direct it towards material
objects.
Do not direct your love towards
material objects.
And he
goes on elaborating it to make the ideal clear, we should only love for love
sake and we think wonderful only love and if we understand with the mind we
think we just have to feel it again and we don’t listen and he is telling us
that we do not just have to feel it, because if we just feel it that is for
sure directed towards material objects only because we are in the mind, thus
how do we experience that divine love?
If you continue to love for love’s
sake, then such a love will be eternal. It is not the body that is to be loved,
but the principle of love.
And here
Swami is very clear about it and he is telling it once more to clear the ideal and
our emotions and it is uplifting for our life. We know that attraction for
someone else and falling in love is on the body level, but we think it is love
and we look for happiness on the wrong level. We have to love for love’s sake
and it will be eternal.
We have
to love the principle of love and we have to understand the principle and for
that we have to use the intellect and also we have to use it to cleanse the
ideal, we need to know what the ideal is and we have to use our intellect, it
is not done by doing nothing or just by keeping ourselves in silence and there
is not even a feeling of love possible, there is the absence of everything, no
commitment, no devotion, no love, no Swami and no sharing, we cannot live that
love alone in a corner in silence like a yogi in the Himalayas in a cave, we
maybe can try to do it, but we will get aware probably of the desert in the
heart and there is that statue of the divine and it is not flowing like a
river.
If it
would be just a feeling we could go to the Sai center and meet with the others
and it would be flowing, but it is not.
Instead
of feeling love, we get that upset that we don’t want to talk to devotees
anymore, that is more likely, because it is not that outer level of love. And
that is the same what happened with someone I know, he went to Swami with his
wife, it was alive in the relationship and now she died he cannot even take the
emails anymore and he gave everything back in exclaiming that there is nothing
but pain left. The love has to be eternal and in his relationship it was not
eternal, it is gone and it somehow seems to take a while before he is able to
feel that love as a principle of love and not a feeling and if he is not
listening to the divine words, how can he get aware of the principle of love?
But he
feels that bad, I guess he can also not listen to his words, at least not for
now, maybe in some time he will be able again.
All the names and forms are
evanescent and impermanent. Love directed towards temporary objects or beings
is physical, whereas love for love’s sake is eternal. Love is God. You must
attain Divinity with such love.
Name and
forms evanescent and impermanent and we are not on the level of eternal love
and how do we get to a principle of love if all love on that level is only
physical and how do we make that difference between physical love directed
towards physical objects and eternal love?
It is
love for love’s sake only; we have to make all effort possible or needed to
understand the principle of love, that Atmic principle.
Love is God. You must attain
Divinity with such love.
That is
the conclusion and what is uplifting our life, he tells us that such a love is
divine and it is God and that we must attain the divine highest level with such
a love.
And if
we are awake inside and we watch thoughts and feelings and what just happened
by listening to the divine words, if we listen to him, we notice that with his
words our life gets uplifted and that our ideals get cleansed now in the
presence and our emotions as well and that is Swami, that is his Darshan and
what we have experienced all those moments in Darshan, our life was uplifted by
his presence and our ideals were cleansed by his love and as well our emotions and
it is what was happening in Darshan and therefore, if we get aware of it, it is
Darshan, even is Swami is not present on the physical level in the form, he is
present in his words, he is omnipresent and that is what we have to get aware that
he has never been the body and the mind and that is why we have to listen, think
it over and absorb.
