For spiritual progress kshama (forbearance) is the real basis or foundation. Great people and countries have lost their glory, prestige, and reputation because of the disappearance of Kshama. Without patience and the capacity for forbearance, one becomes spiritually weak. Such weakness leads to bad feelings, undesirable thoughts, and unbecoming actions. This virtue is best cultivated under adverse circumstances, and one must therefore gladly welcome troubles instead of regarding them as unwelcome. Thus times of distress, and an environment of sorrow and misery offer the ideal opportunity for the development of Kshama. However, because of mental weakness and ignorance, we shun painful experiences and distress. You should not be weak; be brave and welcome troubles. Let them come, more the merrier. Only with such a courageous attitude, you would be able to bring out the kshama hidden within you.
Like yesterday it is again about Kshama, forbearance and as he mentioned it is not a gift. Instead of looking at everything as a gift we should rather think it over and ask ourselves why we see it as a gift and it is also not given by a teacher. I saw it more like a challenge to learn or a lesson, but there are limitations to it. When it is about Kshama it is not about gifts and it is also not about lessons we would like to learn.
We call it a lesson, but when it is about a lesson we understand usually that it is difficult and not a gift, but some see also that as positive, because we learn from it, but here we talk about a different reality and it has nothing more to do with a gift, it is more like doomed or like a curse than a gift, it feels rather like hell and not good and there is nobody who wants to make such experiences and when we have to go trough it anyhow, it feels like hell or like we have demons around us and that has nothing more to do with just looking at it in a good way and with golden glasses, as it turned out we would have preferred to not have to go through it and there is stuff I got aware of only by following the inner master, what seems to be in fact the same as the shadow.
Nobody is promising us a world devoid of pain and suffering and the paradiese.
If we think it is only a matter of seeing love, when it is all the mind only, we have understood about everything of Swami's teaching wrong.
The Atmic principle has to do with truth and an eternal reality and it is uplifting to our life always and by that we also get our ideal cleansed and our emotions. We experience that as well in a study circle if we think over his words and go deep into it and use his words, in his words is the truth, everybody seems to think that we have to find our own words, but that is just the mind. We are not able to answer it as we are in the mind and not enlightened beings, we should use his words and we will notice the same effect as in Darshan, it is uplifting to our life and it is cleansing the ideal and the emotions. As it is a similar experience, it is also the same feeling, at least it will be present in our dreams as his divine presence.
We don't get to the oneness if we just generalize it like telling everybody is God for example, it is not really possible to tell that it is not true, but it also doens't tell us how we get there. Or everything is Karma, we know it is Karma, we get the meaning of it, but it doesn't explain everything. And others tell us that all is illusion only and nothing is real and that is also not true.
If we use Swami's words that will not happen because he doesn't give such confusing answers. If we use our own words it means we show that we are actually trying to understand it, but if we use his words, we know that he is the right answer.
Instead of going for it and listening it to it, we think it is too difficult and we will never get it. We don't see the challenge in it to think it over and to realize what will happen in our mind when thinking it over. Most of us think it is too complicated and we will never understand that.
Someone said that he is very hard to understand or to read, too many Sanskrit words?
We don't question the reason why we don't think it over and the reason is hidden behind it, we have to think it over, the challenge is not the Sanskrit word, but that it needs to be thought over. We have to listen to it and get the feeling of it. We have to taste them, feel them, use them, speak with his words, know them, love them, it is not enough to just read it.
The challenge when we feel that it is too difficult is to get into it and to realize that it is an obstacle in the mind, it happens only if we do it, the insight is directly related to experience and if we practice, we get into it and we do not forget it again, but we will make the experience that the truth is in his words.
If we don't understand it, we should listen to get it and not avoid it. The challenge is about thinking it over.
If we get in our mind to the conclusion that we don't know it no matter what, we don't do an effort to think it over and it seems too complicated and we don't even start to think it over and to absorb. We use some excuse in the mind and hide behind that excuse.
Lots of Sanskrit words seem often a reason people don't start to think it over. We should listen, think it over, absorb, also the Sanskrit word has a translation and even if it would not be Sanskrit, we anyhow would have to think it over.
If we think we don't understand it we get a translator and we still have to think it over and it is a question of how we get into it and how we get a feeling for it. We have to find a way out of the dilemma, like silence for example, not talking, I did it as well, because it felt like a headache only.
If we don't get into a situation where the ideal is cleansed and by that the emotion and we don't feel uplifted in our life, we will go home with a headache and are not inspiring to go for it again. We don't feel Baba's presence if we don't feel uplifted, he was always uplifting and if we don't listen to it, we don't feel it. We also get uplifted in our life with mediation and with singing, there is no spiritual purpose in it if it results in arguing.
We can only feel his divine presence, if it is uplifting and cleansing.
Forbearance cannot be seen as a gift. If the capacity of forbearance is not cultivated and we have to cultivate it, we become spiritually weak. That is not a gift, that is a self-effort, it needs to be done.
We need it always, sometimes it felt that troublesome and that bad, mothing made sense, not the songs, not the tradiditions.
I tried to avoid it and after practicing dynamic meditation, I couldn't take the feeling of Kindergarten and circle dances, it felt like non-sense. We cannot transcend or go beyond the mind like that, it gets established and not beyond the mind. It felt like a spiritual dilemma, it didn't feel good and it was impossible to relax, it was that upsetting I had to get out of it.
We cannot see adverse circumstanced just as the gift of God, we have to welcome troubles to be able to develop forbearance, but I had no idea why I felt the way I felt and even if I would have gladly accepted troubles, I was not able to do it.
This virtue is best cultivated under adverse circumstances, and one must therefore gladly welcome troubles instead of regarding them as unwelcome. Thus times of distress, and an environment of sorrow and misery offer the ideal opportunity for the development of Kshama.
It didn't make sense the traditional songs and it made me just upset, I had no trust my own feelings. Nothing made me feel like his presence, it seemed impossible. Only the Indian devotees were as usual our good angels, they prepared the food and cooked and when the Westerners seemed to be totally besides their shoes, they keep the spiritual level and service in the background and made it go on when the Westerners felt sometime like mad chickens getting upset about everything, flattering and clucking around like nuts and it didn't make any sense.
It seemed impossible to find in that a spiritual sense.
That was probably one of the worst movement experience I ever had and it was not possible to just not care, it affected me if I wanted or not.
If we don't learn to listen to his words, we don't get the best part of him and he always said inner view and not outer view, inner view and not interview … if we don't listen, there will be no inner view. The inner view is part of the dream stage, it is alive in his words, he is waking stage, dream stage and merging stage Turiya non-changing Atmic awareness, he said if all those levels merge it is omniscience and he is on that level. If he talks that omniscience is present in his words, if we read it only, we are in the mind, we nave to do it on all three levels, listen, think it over and absorb.
Reading alon is just waking stage, reflecting on it we are in the dream stage, Atman reflects, reacts and resounds.
In thinking it over it begins to resound in our inner awareness and that is what happens in seeing it in our own life, it resounds, it reflects and reacts in our own life, that is the Atma, if we don't practice, we find not him, but the mind reality around us and that is the headach. If we don't learn how to listen to his words and to think it over to feel his divine presence in his words, we miss the best of him.
However, because of mental weakness and ignorance, we shun painful experiences and distress. You should not be weak; be brave and welcome troubles. Let them come, more the merrier. Only with such a courageous attitude, you would be able to bring out the kshama hidden within you.
If we listen to his words in the circle? Everybody has another way to see it and we share it and study it, we don't just share experiences, but we actually try to get his message. In case we are seven people, we have seven different ways of looking at it and seven different experiences and we listen to it and think it over and we try to find that one view which is from all sides only one view and the right view and we find it in his words, that is why we have to use his words.
There is a big difference if we use his words, if we do there is on the spot a real spiritual touch in it and everything else just feels like … maybe and not uplifting and therefore, not cleansing the ideal and not cleansing the emotions.
The main message is not present if we send around words in the mind only and it is a feeling of 'deception', because the uplifting part is missing, we are not aware what we are doing. If it is not uplifting to our life, there is no divine presence and it is not cleansing our emotions and ideal and he is always uplifting our life and always cleansing our ideal and our emotions, always, even after he left the body and he was in the hospital he was present in the dream stage and what did he do, he was uplifting our life and he was cleansing our ideal and emotions on the dream stage level.
