Understand the Nature of the Divine Soul (Atma), which gives sustenance to all the senses. The five senses originate from Ether, which emerges from the Atma. Hence, if you understand the Atma, it is highly likely that your senses will be under your control. Then you will always be happy. Know that happiness is beyond comfort and sorrow. Comfort and sorrow are just the manifestations of the human mind. The state which is beyond this pleasure and grief is truly happiness. You can realize this state when you listen to the voice within you. God is present within you and He truly speaks to you from within. To experience that inner voice, you must silence your mind. You must control the activity of the external senses. When the inner and outer organs are completely controlled, you will clearly hear the Lord, speaking to you, from within.
Baba (thought for the day)
Baba tells us that we should understand the nature of the divine Soul (Atma) and if we understand the Atma, it is much more likely that our senses are under control and that we will be happy.
He doesn't tell us to just listen to the heart. The higher self is in the heart and self-enquiry is about that higher self in the heart. We do not get there with the mind, so how can we understand the Atma? There is a way to understand it? When we listen to the voice within us.
But it seems there can be some confusion about it, some think they listen to him and it is only the mind. There is a difference between listening to the mind and the heart and what is that difference? The heart is always the mirror and therefore, listening to the heart is getting aware of the insights in the mirror. It is not direct perception, but indirect seeing.
So it is not the right voice if we think he is talking in us, it is the mind only. It is not how we are listening to the voice in the heart. If we listen to the voice in the heart we get aware of the mirror in the heart and the reflection of the mirror what is called 'insight'.
The 'insight' is in the mirror of our heart. He always said that he is in the heart and that our contact with him in the heart is from heart to heart, but it is nevertheless the reflection in the mirror of the higher self. And it is not only silence, it is the mirror we get aware of the reality of Atma and it is by that understanding that the mind gets silent. What is silent that it she mind, not the heart. The higher self is in the heart; therefore, self-enquiry is in the heart. We enquire about the mirror and how do we get answers. Nobody will answer it on the outer level. That is on the level of the mind and sense-perception; it can only be answered in our heart.
But we do not just ask a question and expect the answer to be there. It would be too direct approach again.
We listen to the words of Baba, who is atman and he talks from the atman level to us.
If we listen to his words and think it over, we recognize the same reflection in his words reflected as in our mirror in the heart and that is how it is realized.
If we compare our body with a glass and the water in the glass is our heart and the sun is shining and there is a reflection of the sun in the heart. If the water is pure and clear, we recognize the sun in the water and can tell, 'I am that', that is self-realization. If we listen to his words, we recognize the same reflection in his words as in our mirror of the heart and in that moment we realize, 'that is it'.
As he tells us if we understand the atma and the 'insights' in the heart, it is highly likely that our senses will be under control and we will be always happy.
How can we realize that state? Baba is the insight, but he is also the following step. Ever insight has a following step; it has to realized or recognized as the same. It is outside in his words, like it is inside in my inner view. The following step is therefore a right conclusion. If it is a wrong conclusion, we think it is the mind only and have to get the right insight first.
The heart understands it; he is living in our heart.
There is no way he can get awakened, if we ignore it or if we do not do the work and listen to his words to get aware of the same reflection in his words.
If we understand Atma, it goes beyond pleasure and grief and that it true happiness.
It is not all done by silencing the mind, there is more. If we meditate and silence the mind and feel better or whatever, we have not yet made one step in direction of understanding the Atman. There is the source of joy and happiness and bliss. If we do not understand the Atma, we don't enquire about the insights and we are not yet really on the path of self-realization.
When the inner and outer organs are completely controlled, you will clearly hear the Lord, speaking to you, from within
It is insight that he is present in our heart, it is the reflection of his presence and it makes sense, we have to first discriminate, second we have to see it in our own life and third we have to go on no matter what obstacles are there. It is in the heart. So how do we get to the reflection of the sunlight in the heart and we can tell, 'I am that'?
We listen to his words as we do with the thought for the day and we think it over and that is why we have to see it in our own life, we have to recognize it in our own life the spark of the divine if we finally would like to get to the insight, 'I am that'. The sun is always shining, even if we do not look in the mirror of the heart and we do not get aware that the same spark of the light is in the heart. That is the work we do in listening, thinking it over and if we are able to absorb, we get aware in our own self that 'I am that'. Therefore, we should listen to the heart and we have to listen to his words as well to be able to recognize that spark of divinity as the same reflection. And that is not possible on the mind level, there is a difference between mind or sense-perception and the reflection of the 'insight', because the mind we are just talking, it is not reflection of a higher reality mirrored by divinity itself.
With every 'insight' is a following step, because the 'insight' is usually only the first reflection and we have to find the same in Baba's words to be able to know that we are the same.
It is always indirect and never direct. It will not be there only by singing, because there is no understanding. It will not be there only by service and good actions, because there is no understanding, it will also not be there only be meditation and not by all that together, it needs something more, we have to go into self-enquiry. The understanding of Atma will be there, if we go into self-enquiry, if we listen and see it in our own heart and do on no matter what obstacles are there, we will recognize that the same divinity is on our own self and we will by that understand the Atma.
If we see the insight and we do not enquire about it, there will be no work done and no reflection in the higher self which is the same in him as in us.
Baba said that he is the man who comes in our dream to awake us. If we recognize his presence it is not yet done, because we have to understand the insight to understand Atman after all.
It is always colored in our own life. We look at the reflection and think it over and look at his thought for the day and if we go deep enough in the meaning of it, we get aware that is exactly what was reflected in my dream and even if happened a long time ago and in that reflection it begins to make sense.
The man in the dream is not direct, but indirect.
It is not seeing with our eyes, it is inside perception; we see it in the mirror because it reflects.
That is all about self-realization. Our self is only okay about an insight and it feels that's it and that is right, if it is confirmed or reflected by the divinity outside. It is happens between the sun and the reflection of the sun light in our own self.
We cannot just read a book and get the answer to our insights; it is not possible, because it is not a reflection.
If we go to a course and try to do it in learning things by heart or we learn a new skill or a meditation technique, that is all a direct way of getting information in the mind and it has nothing to do with self-realization and the indirect reflection in the heart.
He said that insights are Baba to make it easier for us to understand it and he also said the following step is Baba, so we have to see the relationship between the insight and the following step.
Do you know that there is a following step or you do not know?
Have you had an insight and it is not at all clear what that insight is about? And you think you will maybe get it in time, but in reality you know that you do not understand it.
What is the following step?
It is in his words, because insight is a reflection, so we have to go to the sun to see that it is the same reflection. That happens if we listen to his words and listening is not enough, we have to think it over and see it in our own life so that we recognize the 'same' in writing now, it is the same, there is no difference and that is how we get absorbed. It happens only if we go deep into the wisdom that we are able to absorb it.
If we take as example this thought for the day and read it. That is not thinking it over, that is only reading it and maybe we even think that I know already. Only if we go deep into it and if we think it over we can get to the depth of it and we get aware that we do not miss it.
It seems most of us don't do the work.
I had in 84 an insight, during meditation or in the dream, the air broke in pieces, it felt real strange that insight and I had never heard of anyone talking about insights and what to do about it.
It felt like beautiful sunshine, but anyhow the air was like thin glass breaking into pieces.
That has been in 84 and I found explanations on the mind level and I wrote about it always hoping to get it and it didn't help. Nothing helped until now to understand it.
It had been such a long time ago. In 85 I got in touch with Baba, I took some vibuthi and it was in the meditation and it reflected in the heart, there was love and it went down in the heart and there it got even more intense and was present as a small, tiny dark blue form, divinity.
The following step was that I went to Baba and it was the end of TM. I could think that it meant the end of TM when it broke in pieces but it was not the right answer and there were more of those insights and no answer to it. After I went to Baba I hoped it would get better and it didn't. We sang Bhajans, we meditated, no explanation for those insights and it felt like a real problem to understand it and more insights and no understanding, they didn't make sense just because we were in his presence.
He is the sun and the reflection in the heart is the sunlight. We didn't begin to listen to his words just like that and we didn't think it over enough to see it.
Baba is divinity in the heart, that is insight, but it is also the reflection of the universal divine. But it was somehow clear; it was not like other insights which didn't make any sense. That was as direct it could get, he is in the heart and the following step was that we went to him. In the meantime I got used to it that there is an insight and a following step to understand that insight.
How do we know the following step if we do not understand it?
If we do not understand, the following step is that we have to 'understand it' and in listening to Baba's words we will even get aware why we do not understand it yet. The answer is not on a direct level in the mind, but in an indirect way we get the confirmation that the insight in the mirror of the heart is the same when Baba is talking about it, we find it confirmed and that is how it is realized and it grows. It is an indirect way to get to the right conclusion; we have to find the reflection confirmed by him.
Also during Darshan we get insights and it begins to grow and it reflects in our dreams and we have to find a way that it does make sense.
We didn't get an answer as long as we tried the mind level or whatever that was, it was no right answer.
So there are some 'insights' in the heart which got clear quickly and others take time.
The first 'insight' I had was the higher self, it was light, it was beauty, and it was love and the 'I am that' in the air during Darshan, it was standing in the air and it had to be also realized in my own inner reflection to be able to understand it. First I thought all would think the same thought, but I never forgot that the 'I am that' cannot be just that and it was just a mind interpretation. We had three interviews and Baba looking in eyes like he was searching for something and I couldn't recognize it probably at that time.
In the meantime thinking it over and writing about it, I am used to the reflection in my own heart and also that he confirms it and that we have to find it in his words.
The first reflection of it was present after he 'engaged' me to some other devotee and afterwards, we were the same 'I am that' and that was in the mirror of the heart. That is how I got aware that the same 'I am that' was also in me, the same 'I am that' I had seen above Baba in the air some years before.
I began to write, because he was holding a book in the air, I had written. The 'insight' was Baba and the following step that was beginning to write, that was also him.
That is how we began to enquire but it took time until it began to make sense.
With time it felt like balloons standing in the air of all those insights and there was no answer.
All the 'insights' in the heart during TM-time had no following step, because the only step taken was TM. It was one step for all 'insights' and that was not the right answer and that is how it got only more confusing, meditation couldn't answer the insights. If we have 'insights', we also have a following step and if the insight and the following step doesn't match it is a problem, there is something wrong about it.
I guess that is why still some people would like to talk to Baba and tell now they have seen him in a light body and he was answering questions, that is all on the mind level.
He was never answering that type of questions, because it is a direct approach and we have to find the answer in our own self, it is about self-realization, we have to get aware of the reflection of it in our own life and in our own heart. The self is never direct, it is always indirect.
When I got the answer in the thought for the day that Tapas is first to use discrimination and second to see it in our own life and third to go on no matter what obstacles are there, it told me much more about the process of how to do it and he said we should listen to his thoughts and think it over and absorb.
So we knew at least what we were doing.
A few days ago something amazing happened in that thought for the day, Baba talked about pieces and it was like – pieces, do you remember the problem with the air breaking into pieces. Baba talked about pieces and in that light it was clear, he confirmed the experience.
Truth is not merely describing what you have seen, expressing as is what you have heard or sharing honestly what you have experienced. Truth is beyond all this. It is a deep inner feeling and it must come from within. Truth must originate from your heart. Truth is permanent; it does not change with the passage of time. When you rely on Truth (Satya), Righteousness (Dharma) arises out of it. It is Truth that teaches how one should conduct oneself and perform one's duties. Righteousness is a reflection of Truth. You will experience peace when Sathya and Dharma co-exist. This is indeed peace, Shanti. It is foolishness to think that Peace exists elsewhere and is separate from you. If you separate truth and righteousness, you will find only pieces, on the other hand if you blend them you will experience Peace always.
The truth he is talking about is reflected in our own heart. It is getting aware of the natural law in it.
What he tells is that if truth, (Sathya) and righteousness (Dharma) result in peace, when they co-exist and if they get separated, we find only pieces. Now the question was, why something was separated?
And when had it been jointed together and that was during the TM teacher's training course, that was the marriage in the air and the husband was not there. And it was separated again and that is why it broke in the air in pieces.
So that was the first experience with TM which was in the inner view as reflection and it didn't make sense, now it does make sense.
We try to describe what we have experienced and we try to share honestly, that is what I do in my blog, just to see it in my own life, but if we listen to his words and we think it over and we can absorb it, if it is about a 30 year old 'insight' which has haunted out life ever since, in that case it feels like a miracle to get the right insight.
When the air broke into pieces it was not possible to see that it had been first joined to be together to get separated again and the question was afterwards how and why.
There was often the 'insight' cut off, from the environment, from the observer, from the higher self, a technique cannot reflect in the mirror of the higher self and get us to right answers. And the dilemma was also reflected as, 'if you don't know the source, you cannot understand it'. So the source was lost to understand it, the husband was not there, so the marriage didn't make sense and everything was lost.
The source was the husband was not there, the master was not there and the replacement master, he was also not there, so it got lost.
And I got over the Facebook in touch with that TM-teacher I went into it in 80. The following step was in the insight, 'careful husband'. I was a bit surprised, why husband, he felt like soul-mate, not husband, but he was a replacement partner or master, because the yogi was not there. I had to be careful, the husband was totally lost, but after that teacher's training it was not in the air as soul, but as 'marriage'. There was no connection between the soul-mate and the marriage and it was cut off. We didn't know the source and couldn't understand it.
And writing with that TM guy in the inner view was 'divorce'. I asked him how we could get divorced if there had never been a marriage. That was all because the master was not present and afterwards the 'insights' didn't make sense anymore and it took 30 years to understand it.
If you separate truth and righteousness, you will find only pieces, on the other hand if you blend them you will experience Peace always.
Follow the master, fight to the end, and finish the game. (Baba)
It went on in the inner view until it said: 'I am the One'. We find the 'Tat Tvam Asi' usually not translated as I am that, but as 'Thou art that' – that is the One.
It seems to be the following step of the 'I am that' and the work we are doing here.
Every object has a reflection and reflects in the 'insight' and there is a following step.
