The Principle is the Essence

God is beyond all qualities. He is blemishless, steady and selfless (Nirmalam, Nischalam and Niswartham). He is beyond time and space. Don't try to confine God to just one form. Install the principle that God is the Divine Soul (Atma) present within you and contemplate on Him. In every step, everything you see, God is present. God is the current that makes fans work; God is the mike that absorbs the sound, and the speakers that help others listen. If you put off the main switch, all the lights will go out. When you forget Divinity, you forget everything. Love God deeply, from within. Love God and you will be able to conquer the demons of bad qualities and also develop the society. Only a person with character can bring development in society. Only the one with love for God can lead a life of morality. Morality is truly a life principle. Without moralit y there is no community.
Baba (thought for the day)

How can we help ourselves to understand something we cannot understand on the intellectual level?

God is beyond all qualities. We can ask what a quality is. What is an attribute we give to something, it is always related to a thing, so whatever we can see as a thing is 'not that' and in seeing the opposite as not that, what will be left is 'that', it is pure being, no name, no form, no quality.

He is blemishless, steady and selfless (Nirmalam, Nischalam and Niswartham). He is beyond time and space. Don't try to confine God to just one form.

What do we get if we go beyond the form? It is a principle. Principle remain always the same and do not change, otherwise, it is no principle. We have to go beyond the form of divinity and whatever form of divinity we like best, it is beyond the form.

Install the principle that God is the Divine Soul (Atma) present within you and contemplate on Him. In every step, everything you see, God is present.

We go to the essence of it, the principle and it is in the 'I am that', it is the principle of pure being. If we get to the essence we find the 'I' we cannot transcend and we get to the being state, that is 'am' because it is related to the 'I', the universal and infinite I and if ether is a subject, that is pure subjectivity, we also have an object and that is just 'that'. We cannot name it otherwise; it is not that and not anymore a principle but a form and a name. So we get to that reality of the divinity with negation. Everything we see around us is sense-perception is relative and 'not that', because if it would be a principle we couldn't see it.
It is the principle of meditation, in the mantra Soham, breathing in is So (that), breathing out is Ham (I am) or I am he or I am God.
As Baba explains in that thought for the day, He is not only beyond all qualities, he is beyond time and space, he is beyond all conceptuality, he is beyond the mind.
So why can we experience him in the dream and it is not conceptual, because in the dream in the insight, as Baba called it, the mind is not awake, the dream is beyond the mind and therefore, the insight in the dream is also beyond the mind.
If we take the Baba dreams or insights and if Baba is in it or not, when it is about 'insights' we find the right conclusion and we get there in listening to his words and in thinking it over; that is how we are able to absorb. Of course, in the moment we begin to think it over it is again in the mind, but Baba said he is the 'insight' and the following step that means in thinking it over there is a certain moment we know that's it and we get to the following step, it is a right conclusion. We should level the end open and not expect a result, otherwise, we get to a mind conclusion and that is not the right conclusion.
In enquiring we get a feeling for it, even if it seems all mind, we just go by it. That is spiritual work, Tapas, first discrimination, second seeing it in our own life and third we go on no matter what obstacles are there. A guru has the task to lead us into the light and that is the right conclusion.
The prayer is, lead us from darkness to light, from untruth to truth, from death to immortality.
We go on enquiring until there is a following step and a right conclusion, the result is open as he said yesterday, because we do not know when it will be done and how it will be done, because if we think we know, we are again in the mind and it is a wrong conclusion, we have to leave it open to get to a right conclusion. He also said in the thought for the day yesterday that the reason if we are not calm enough or disturbed is the mind, if we are in a state of mind that is Rajoguna, Rajas is passion, Sathva is purity and Tamas is darkness.

An individual, who had a large family, sat down for meditation in his home. As one child or another was disturbing him, he locked himself in a room. But even now he was disturbed by frequent knocks on the door by someone or other. So he betook himself to a forest and began meditating under a tree. But here he was troubled by the droppings from the birds on the tree. Disgusted with the disturbances at home and in the forest he felt that the best thing was to end his existence. Unfortunately, he was unable to realize that God was present in everything and cultivate forbearance. He indeed exemplifies the devotee in whom Rajoguna is predominant. To be able to concentrate wherever one may be is the mark of the devotee with satwic quality. Such a devotee will be able to practice concentration whether in the midst of a crowd or alone. Any disturbance will be looked upon as coming from God and be accepted. (Baba)

Practice of concentration undisturbed in the midst of a crowed is meditation and if we contemplate on the principle which is in our breath, we know also as meditation practice.

Don't try to confine God to just one form. Install the principle that God is the Divine Soul (Atma) present within you and contemplate on Him.

The principle of Atma is the 'I am that', we install the principle that God is the Divine Soul present within us and contemplate it. If we practice with the mantra silent sitting and we calm down the mind, it belongs to the concentration part, even if we know it as meditation.
If we go on in thoughts or focus on the insight and think Baba's words over to be able to absorb the meaning it is all part of contemplation and meditation is beyond the mind.
Concentration is the focus on the principle or the observer in us, contemplation is the thought process and process of growing understanding to finally get to a state of meditation.
In the meditation 'insights' are like in the dream beyond the mind, because the mind is calm and not active.
Baba said in an interview that 'Soham' the mantra we use with the breath is constantly repeating So inhale, Ham exhale, 'I am that' or 'I am God' or 'I am Shiva'.
The principle is the essence. We have to understand the value of the principle; it is non-changing, unlimited and always present. Therefore, if we install that principle in us and contemplate on Him, we will get to the insights and beyond the mind.

If we install the principle in us and will realize that it is part of our higher self and it is same for everybody, we get to the conclusion and insight that he is everywhere and in every step.
We don't need to read all the books, that is much too much, what we need to put our focus on is the principle in the breath. We have to find that non-changing principle of 'I am that' in our own self and contemplate on it and live a sathvic life and we understand it.
Sathva always wins. Only Sathva know the truth, Rajas or the Rajoguna is pending back and forth and the Tamoguna is turning the principle upside down, it makes out of a vice a virtue and out of a virtue a vice.

God is the current that makes fans work; God is the mike that absorbs the sound, and the speakers that help others listen. If you put off the main switch, all the lights will go out. When you forget Divinity, you forget everything.

If we forget that 'principle', as Baba tells us, we forget everything, we are not consciously aware but only in the mind, we could tell it is just like only functioning without being aware of it. He is the switch that puts the light on.

Love God deeply, from within. Love God and you will be able to conquer the demons of bad qualities and also develop the society. Only a person with character can bring development in society. Only the one with love for God can lead a life of morality. Morality is truly a life principle. Without morality there is no community.

That part is about using it in our society. If there is love in the inner view or in the dream, it becomes part of my meditation.
It is a lot about duty, but Baba also said that we should not only know our duty and to know that we are human is not enough, we have also to know what we are not, we are not on the level of an animal and by knowing what we are not, we find that we are human, but that is not all of it, there is still a higher state of Dharma and that is not about duty, but about joy.
Joy goes in direction of Atman and divinity, but we have to use discrimination to know when it is about duty and when it is about joy.

Duty without love is deplorable, duty with love is good and love without duty is divine.

Somehow it seems to me that on this level most of misunderstandings happen, because some people think it is fun and joy and go on thinking that is direction of divinity into sense-enjoyment and of course, that is Rajas and not the same level, if it is joy, it has to be sathvic.
