Soham is sathwic in nature. This sathwa guna is Easwarathwa (the Shiva Principle).

There is yet another form which emerges from the navel of Vishnu, namely, Brahma. Thus, the principles of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara are emanating from the Soham Tathwa in a human being itself.

Thus, Divinity is permeating the entire human body. The body is living, as long as the life breath emanates from the body.

Meditation on the form without the sound of the transcendental OM (Soham), the mantra, it will not be possible to understand the nature of Divinity. Instead of focusing on the form, we can focus on the place in the body in general, the bronchial tube, it helps to get away from the form if for some reason it should seem difficult.

Patanjali's Sutras focus an the bronchial tube is the place where the breath comes in as So - the unlimited - the light. It is breathing out as Ham - the limited body - darkness and ego.
Light, silence, unlimited is taken in and from that place all disturbance gets out - therefore, it a place in our body where it is always calm and silent.

In the principal of Soham is Divinity permeating the whole body. In the right picture of Baba is vibuthi, holy ash, appearing as the indestructible principle.
When you sit for meditation on the soham principle, you will observe that the “so” comes in and “ham” goes out while inhaling and exhaling. This process has to be watched carefully. Here “so” relates to the Divine Principle and “ham” to ahamkara (ego).
