Listen to it and Think it Over

People commit the great fault of identifying themselves with the body. They accumulate a variety of things for the upkeep and comfort of the body, even when the body becomes weak and decrepit with age! Can death be postponed? When Yama's (God of death) warrant comes, all must depart. Position, pride, and power - all vanish before death. Knowing this, strive day and night, with purity of body, mind and spirit, to realize the Higher Self. The body must be preserved as a vehicle for this service. But remember, you are not this body; this body cannot be you! Until the realization of the purpose for which the human body is given, it is your duty to watch over it vigilantly and protect it from injury and disablement. Just as woolen clothes help withstand the rigor of the cold gales during winter and are discarded in summer, the material body is no longer essential when the cold gales of material life don't affect you.
Baba (thought for the day)

If we listen to Baba's words carefully, what we always should do, we find that he is telling us in the first sentence that people commit the great fault of identifying themselves with the body.
We should notice that it is a great fault and therefore, we have to think it over to be able to understand it and it is possible to understand it if we know how.
People commit the great fault of identifying themselves with the body.

It is a must to understand it right and not to postpone it on a later date when we may
be will understand it. If we do that we project it into the future and that is mind level, past and future are in the mind. I had a good friend in the ashram and she told me not long ago that Baba owes her still an interview, because he said, 'see you tomorrow'. Tomorrow can be any time in the future and it means it is the mind and not in the Atma and the present and in the now. So we should make now an effort to understand it now and not put it on hold for later on.
If we think we are the body, everything around the body seems to matter and therefore, we accumulate a variety of things for the upkeep and comfort of the body. How does that look in our everyday life? That are mostly habits and we are that used to it that we would never put it in question, the habits of our life we got used to think in a certain way and we think that is normal, that are the comforts and variety of thing we accumulate and we think it has to be like that, everybody is like that and it is 'normal'.
They accumulate a variety of things for the upkeep and comfort of the body, even when the body becomes weak and decrepit with age! Can death be postponed?

Why Baba is mentioning death here?
In the moment of death all that vanishes and only what is 'real' will be left. All those varieties of things will be gone in an instant, whatever that is, position, pride, power and wealth – all is vanished before death.
And why should we be ready for death?
In the moment of death future is gone, there is just that very moment and if our mind is used to think for the future, that is gone far away. What happens if we project happiness into the future, we think the light is in the future and in the moment the future is gone, we are inside in darkness and the light is far away like a small star. If that would not be so, it would not be that bad after all we would think, but four our soul he night is not the day and the light is not darkness.
If our main focus is on a life in the future, all will vanish and nothing will be left, but darkness.
That was my father's experience. After his death he was in my dream and said that he had to show me something. He was in the dark river bed and the water came, death and he couldn't get out of it and the light was far away like a small tiny star and it felt real sad.
In the moment of death we have only that present moment now and it all depends if there is light or not.
Knowing this, strive day and night, with purity of body, mind and spirit, to realize the Higher Self.
The higher self was in my dream many years ago and it was a white light and it was only love, beauty and light, but I knew in that moment of that self-experience that is all we are looking for and nothing really mattered but that.
Baba also said that it is a gift, but we have to understand it right. Not the various things we accumulate are the gift which make the body comfortable, but the gift is the wisdom and knowing it and for that we have to listen to Baba and not tomorrow, but now.
If we think everything we got is a gift and that is from wealth to comfort etc. all about those things we accumulated, we have misunderstood it, because that is not in question, it is all part of the identification with the body.
In the moment of death we have to remember the higher, that is the only thing that matters and is light and exists, everything else will vanish and the body is a vehicle for service and that vehicle in the moment of death has to go. We are not the body, the body cannot be the I, but we think it is the I that is identification with the body.
We have to realize the purpose for which the human body is given and if we think only about comfort and how to upkeep the body we are attached to the body and in the moment of death we die in the body and not in the light, body means darkness, higher self is light.

The body must be preserved as a vehicle for this service. But remember, you are not this body; this body cannot be you! Until the realization of the purpose for which the human body is given, it is your duty to watch over it vigilantly and protect it from injury and disablement.

In the moment of death the body has done its duty and we should go into the light, but if we think all those things around the body are real, we will not go into the light, but be in darkness.
The problem is we have to realize the purpose of it and why we got the gift body.
If we think as I know someone that it is about 'think and get rich', that focus is not on the realization of the higher self. To think that Baba is here to give more riches and wealth and that is the purpose of what, it doesn't make sense? It is all part of the variety of things around the body. If we listen and think it over, about the variety of things, we know wealth is part of it, because that is nothing else but comfort.
In the moment of death it will be gone, all the wealth and if we think only about that, we are not in the light, because we think it matters and we focus on something that really doesn't matter. What matters is as Baba said, only love.
If someone is thinking always about wealth he will have problems to let go of wealth, because it was his only focus, there is nothing else but that. If he goes to Baba or not, if he is not focused on God, why should there be light in the moment when the body is gone?
For someone like that it will be difficult to let go of possessions and comforts and life standard or letting go of a great job or the VIP status and all the enjoyments of it and of being a very important person, all that is part of the variety of things around the body, only love is beyond the body and the only thing that matters.
What Baba talks about is that in the moment of death is nothing left but that and if we have the focus not on real things and not on the higher self, only on temporary stuff, we will not be aware that we are actually immortal and divinity and we have not realized the self, but we have missed it and we die in the body.
People thinking that poverty is a mistake and the poor, maybe they will even get the opportunity next life to be as poor to make the experience that it is not that easy and if we make the experience afterwards we understand. It is a lack of compassion and Baba is compassion and he said that compassion is the reason he incarnated. If we don't have any compassion, we for sure have to come back to make the experience of being poor and not rich and to see how it feels if the rich think only about themselves and they even think they are much better than the rest of the world. They will not come back rich, but poor I would think, it would need a lot of good Karma to come back wealthy again if someone has misused wealth and not taken care of the others and the poor. If we have no compassion, we have also no love and that cannot be possibly a divine level, it is just selfishness in another hidden in another dress which is empty and has nothing in it.

Just as woolen clothes help withstand the rigor of the cold gales during winter and are discarded in summer, the material body is no longer essential when the cold gales of material life don't affect you.

We think we are the body and letting go of it will be difficult, because we think that 'I' die, it needs more than just knowing it that it will real, we have to realize the self.
We have to realize that we are not the body.

Love is the only thing that matters and if we know that, we behave differently, we have another attitude and we think differently. If we want to make the experience of pure love it is as Baba said, we have to understand peace and we have to accept right action and that is not about accumulating various things around the body to make it more comfortable, right action has to do with realization that all that is – not that and that what really matters is different from it.
We have to listen and think it over, now in the present and only that matters and it is possible to understand it. The moment we begin to think it over we get answers and we see it in our own life and more we see it in our own life, more we are able to integrate it.
We have to do it now, not tomorrow, not yesterday or wwhen we understand it. If we listen to it carefully we get it now and it will grow on us until there is nothing else left but the present moment.
