All Mantras are Okay

To observe a very small particle, you need a microscope; to see a remote object clearly, you need a telescope. These areyantras or instruments. The instruments that help you visualise the Core that has such contradictory attributes of being minuter than the minutest and more magnificent than the most magnificent, are called Mantras - formulae that save you when you meditate on them.
They are also called Tantras (ceremonies and rites) when their practical application has to be emphasised.
Faith in the efficacy of these Mantras, in the utility of the procedure prescribed, and in the existence of the Core - all of these are essential for success in the great adventure of acquiring the ultimate knowledge; just as faith in the efficacy of the instrument, in the correctness of the procedure, and in the existence of the material one is seeking to know more about, are essential for the scientist.
Baba (thought for the day)

An instrument is a mantra. But it doesn't mean anything to us if we don't have the experience. It is like talking how nice strawberries taste, we have to make the experience to appreciate it.
But if we get that experience, we get aware of the thought process and how to observe. It is an inside world and we get to the level which is smaller than the smallest and what do we find - love.
Why mantras can save us?

Does it mean we meditate for less stress, better achievements or to feel better in general or to get on a realm of no problems?
No we don't meditate for results, it means we meditate to get liberation, Moksha, got get free from birth and death and to realize immortality.

They are also called Tantras (ceremonies and rites) when their practical application has to be emphasised.

When it is about the practical application of the mantra it is about technique and methods to know how.
But as Baba explains here it is 'faith' that makes the mantras efficient and not the method or technique, but we have to know how to practically apply it. But the West believes in technique, so we just put faith into technique.
And what about the great adventure acquiring the ultimate knowledge ... ?
It needs faith in the instrument, the mantra. After a group meditation Baba called our group in the interview room and said that all mantras are okay.
In fact, we were told in the TM instruction that there is a difference between mantras with OM and other mantras. If all mantras are okay, why should there be a difference?
OM is the Sanskrit root for all mantras, the sound of the universe, how can there be a difference? If a difference is seen it creates problems for the intellect, because it makes it impossible to understand the source, in fact, the source is oneness or total non-dualism. First it is duality, after qualified non-dualism and total non-dualism.
(The effect of making a difference between mantras is that the mind is not sure about it and cannot get to unity.)
If we don't know the source, we cannot understand it.
How should anyone understand it if cut off the source? It is impossible.
But as it is called an intellectual method, that is about understanding, isn't it? And not okay if cut off the source, how can it be intellectual if it is not about understanding ...?
It is taking faith away, unity and it creates the feeling, we don't know. We think we understand, but we are trapped in a vicious circle, in a Drama triangle, not way out.
Tantra is the level of practice and technique.
We Westerners believe in technique, faith in technique, the mantra just a vehicle, and different God aspects, different mantras. The faith in the source, total non-dualism is disturbed and not present. But it is because there was the information that a difference should be possible between mantras with OM and other mantras. Even if there is a difference, all mantras are okay, they are all rooted in the same unity, there cannot be a difference.
If we don't know the source, we cannot understand it.
That difference is the reason that we were cut off and couldn't possibly understand it.
It is taking power away. The power is hidden and secret, somewhere, nobody knows exactly where it is.
The source veiled in purpose, it feels like people were fooled in purpose, believing in technique and the intellect, the source not known, they had no real power but were puppets. An intellectual method which cannot be understood by the intellect. What is there intellectual about it?
It was a hard waking up in a jungle and the strength of an elephant goes through a jungle.
They don't notice what happens to them, turn around and around their own mind always getting to the same result, meditate and you will understand it finally and it is impossible.
In reality nothing at all is understood.
Cut off there is no faith to understand the ultimate knowledge Baba is talking about here.
It ends up in a mind trap, in a drama triangle.
Instead of realizing divinity and immortality, people act out, like actors playing roles walking around with crowns on their heads. That is a drama, it shows what it should be and it has nothing to do with the reality of it, but the not known source and being cut off makes it impossible for them to realize it.
They sell a product and make money with it thinking by that the world will be enlightened. Nobody gets enlightened.
If we don't know the source, there is no real knowledge. It is all level of drama and triangle.
In the insight was a pyramid. That shows the difference.
If we know the source and the eternal principle, we get on that level and will not be caught in a drama triangle, which is on a relative and limited level, on the conceptual level. It has nothing to do with the reality of 'sath' or the unlimted divinity or the core of the heart.
Meditation is the adventure to know the source, that is what Baba is talking about here. In the source and core of the heart is the ultimate knowledge. The method or technique can show how to do it, but it cannot replace the faith in a mantra.

All of these are essential for success in the great adventure of acquiring the ultimate knowledge; just as faith in the efficacy of the instrument, in the correctness of the procedure, and in the existence of the material one is seeking to know more about, are essential for the scientist.

Faith in the mantra means knowing that all mantras are okay and that mantras are rooted in the same unity, even if there is an appearant difference between the surface aspects of divinity, it is anyhow only one God and he is everywhere. There cannot be a difference in unity, otherwise, it is not total non-duality.
