A new Beginning and the Beginner's Mind

Ugadi is the beginning of a New Year. You have celebrated many Ugadis, but have you given up your bad qualities? Do not limit the celebration of Ugadi to merely putting on new clothes and partaking of delicious food. Today you may wear a new shirt, but how long will it remain new? Our life is like a newspaper. Once you have finished reading a newspaper, do you like to read the same newspaper again and again? You have been given this birth, and you have gone through varied experiences of pleasure and pain. Pray to God to take you across this ocean of life and death, and grant you liberation. True Ugadi is the day when you give up bad qualities, fill your heart with love, and take to the path of sacrifice. Stop criticizing others. Respect even those who hate you. Hatred is a bad quality. It will ruin you. Hence get rid of this evil. Love everyone.

The beginning of New Year and he reminds us that we have celebrated many New Years and talks about giving up bad qualities.
What are bad qualities? Sathva is new in the beginning and a good quality. We should feel it and understand the Gunas, the tendencies of nature, sathva, rajas and tamas. We could call it as he said yesterday dedication to true speech with natural law.
It is the understanding of the tendencies of nature in every word. What is new is in that sense good, what is old is not good, but that is of course generalized. If we don't want to generalize it we have to look at it in ever situation again and see if it is true or not true, but that is basically the common understanding level in the vedic culture.
How can we be dedicated to true speech, we have to consider the difference between sathva, rajas and tamas and we have to listen to the self-realized authorities, because they mastered it, it means it is always right and never not right.
In a new year everything starts new and have we given up the bad qualities?
As it is new we begin celebration with new cloths, that is the same idea, it just has to be new and we enjoy good food, maybe we wear a new shirt, but tomorrow it is not new anymore.
The same is our life if we see it out of a view that knows sathva, rajas and tamas. It is like a news paper, what today is new is tomorrow no more. We read the newspaper only today and we put it away on the pile of old paper.

The same with our birth, we get a new birth like a newspaper and put it on the pile of no news anymore. We went through pleasure and pain in every birth, we have good news and not so good once in every newspaper and now we should pray to God that he takes us across the ocean of life and death and grants us liberation.
To get liberation is equal to always new and that is there when we give up bad qualities, what is bad, that which is not new anymore. It is based on the understanding of sathva. All the Indians sitting in Darshan know that, the Westerners know it maybe if they listen to Swami after many years or probably never. It is not our language, we don't see life as a newspaper and feel that we know why he is telling that, we listen and think, okay another example, but we don't realize the background behind it.

You have been given this birth, and you have gone through varied experiences of pleasure and pain. Pray to God to take you across this ocean of life and death, and grant you liberation.

A new beginning is like every beginning and when we celebrate a new year, it is a good moment to remember. When the man coming in my dream to awake us said that I had to begin new it was because of that reason, after the last years tired, at work it was about being scared to lose the job.
When he calls it fills the heart with love, if we are in the beginners mind is new, there is love, we don't fill it, love is all there is when sathva is the Guna in our life, we don't need to go and fill the heart with love we find it everywhere in the universe.
The path of sacrifice is sathvic, we give up the bad, sacrifice it. It is common knowledge in the Vedic culture or in India, we don't criticize and we should even respect those who hate us.
That are very strong words, based on what he said a few days ago about ignorance and that it origins from a feeling of duality, a feeling and not a thought, it is a feeling and that feeling of duality is due to attachment and hatred, if we have never had such an experience it is very far away really and the origin of that is birth and the reason for birth is Karma.
We can think we now the word Karma, but we need to go deeper if we really want to get a feeling for it, the source of attachment and hatred, we have a different strength of character if we think birth is responsible for it and it is not the fault of others, but it is the fault of our birth.
If there is hate and he tells us that it is a bad quality, it creates duality in our mind, we have to give it up otherwise, it will ruin our life.
We don't get angry and upset at a hateful situation, we even respect someone who hates us. We could tell with other words, he makes the worst come up.
We know that it is birth and because of birth we have the circumstances what has to do with Karma and we don't deal with the surface, but we got to the source and it is better to not go for a new life and to think rather now birth to get rid of sorrow than to go into fight and try at the surface to destroy our enemies.
That is why we should love everyone.

True Ugadi is the day when you give up bad qualities, fill your heart with love, and take to the path of sacrifice. Stop criticizing others. Respect even those who hate you. Hatred is a bad quality. It will ruin you. Hence get rid of this evil. Love everyone.

If we don't feel the three Gunas, we get the meaning of Swami's words only at the surface. What we understand in the West is that we have to fill the heart with love, that we should love everyone, that feels good and the rest is forgotten, like he would have said only one sentence, as we don't know the Vedic culture good enough we have no feeling for it and we don't know why and that is why people hear only love, not hatred and respect, sounds good, start new, it creates a good feeling and no bad qualities and only love, everything understood.
That is not right, in reality nothing is understood, we don't know that we don't know. If we have with the years developed a feeling for sathva, rajas and tamas, we have a feeling for it and we know that every word is based on new beginning equal to new birth and that we fight the enemy in the reason that we are born and not on the surface and if there is hatred, it is a sign of attachment and hatred, due to birth and not the others mistake, it is a duality feeling and that feeling is the problem that we are in ignorance and we think we know when in reality we don't know.
The feeling of duality is the reason and when we think everything love, wonderful, just love we have not even understood the basics, but people get established as usually, it happens by time and habits, same people, no newcomers and that means no new beginning on that level.
Even if no ego should be there, the roles are unpleasant, nobody wants to go for it again and that is how it gets anyhow established, there is an establishment, those who sit on the chairs and don't move anymore and claim, that is my place forever. That is old and not new.
New seems to socialize and get together, but it is nothing new, it has been done already and it is just socializing, the basic feeling of sathva, rajas and tamas is not there, they think being together will be good and develop love, when in reality it is the opposite, as it is based on ignorance and not oneness, they don't know how to be one, what is integrated in the practice, they think if we socialize we get closer and it is good.
It is only socializing and it will be with spaghetti, it is not unifying people, it is the opposite, it makes tired and we go into distance.
He said lots of people are in distance, they didn't have the basic experience of the Atmic principle or pure love, but distance we need also when we get there, we cannot share the enthusiasm, too much ignorance and duality feeling, it ends in a hateful situation, what was expressed that weekend, it was not dedicated to true speech, but to problem search, trying to find the reason, a way to change something, fining new people, the young people. The Westerners grow old and grow out of it.

The love Swami is talking about is not there because of socializing and now they try to make it more social getting people together, those events were never enjoyable and it felt not long ago just like pass time really.

the characteristics of devotion are: a pure mind(anthah-karana), uninterrupted (whatever one may be doing) contemplation on God, the feeling that everything is the Lord's creation, and therefore a) non-attachment to sense objects; b) the embracement of all in equal love; and c) dedication to true speech.

We have meditation, a pure mind if we meditate. It is based on natural law, the mind is activity it goes on thinking always, we cannot stop it and even if we are in silence, it goes on in the background of our head. As Patanjali's sutra tell us, we have to consciously stop, we watch the thought process going on effortlessly in the background of the mind and we stop, with other words when we get aware that there are thoughts, we take the mantra and begin to repeat the mantra, the focus on the mantra calms the thought process in the background of the mind down, but it is effortless and easy, when we get aware that we are in thoughts and not with the mantra, it is again the moment to stop, we begin with the mantra again. It is how we learnt meditation and it is Patanjali.
As Swami confirmed, every mantra is okay.

That is how we get a pure mind and uninterrupted contemplation, whatever one may be doing, the feeling that everything is the Lords creation I had during the time as meditatio teacher and not with the Sai devotees.
When initiating people it was that work and it was in harmony with it, it was a good a feeling. Our constant contemplation was based on what we did, talking constantly about meditation, going inside, one day it was initiation, next day it was checking, one day it was center evening, then we had introductory lectures and second introductory lecture, seven days a week busy in that service that had been our job.
If we are around the clock busy with service, we don't think about sense objects, they are not that important and not in focus, we just get what is useful and we don't go shopping just to shop.
If we teach meditation we know that we everybody is equal, we all have a mind and we all have in the background of the mind activity going on and only with meditation we can get into a state of silence and everything we did was dedicated to true speech, that is why it was also learnt by heart. It was based on programs and technique it was established in such a way that it had to be true speech, it began with lectures, with checking meditation, group meditations, dedicated on true speech and because we have really no idea what we are doing in the West and the cultural valued don't know it and it is impossible in such a short time to give people the feeling for it, it was learnt by heart and structured in programs.
We normally don't have twenty years of our lives to just get rid of tamas to make peace with Baba as he said as the man coming in our dreams to awake us and in getting aware of it in the end that it could have been in the moment itself without any problems if only we would have lived and understood his teaching.
We were mediating together and it is the lightness of the cotton fiber in the flying sutra that is lifting up and got us in the new beginning, it is light, it is new, it gets out of the heaviness of the mind and our social life.
It is establishing sathva and the meditators they just meditated, learnt how to purify the mind, but meditation teacher is dedicated to true speech.
Without speech it is not possible, the real joy is only there if it is speech. When we lift up in the air and feel good and we know that Atma or the divine energy is behind it and it gets light and new again, we have a good experience, it is based on direct experience and it is fun.
As teacher the dedication has to be true speech and it is joy. If we mention the joy, behind is the dedication to true speech. We had a guest lecturer, he spoke about Socrates and Swami and it was inspiring. We talked about being guest is God and that is how we can get aware of it. He said that he felt that much joy in talking to people, he was not able to take it sometimes. It felt like the time being in Darshan with Baba, there was that much joy and the feeling it was overflowing joy and not being able to take it anymore.
We have never felt that joy again.
Only if there is dedication to true speech and we learn to share it is joy and happiness we know from his presence and it is not in silence, it is in truth. Swami was constantly dedicated to true speech, in the interview, with the students, even during darshan sometimes, only not to all the people, but he had we don't know how many speeches, someone I know is doing that work now of putting those thousands of hours of speeches of Swami together in the internet making them available for the people.
Swami is truth, he is love. We don't get his message in silence, if there is silence there is also ignorance, as little as we got it only with mediation, we had the flying sutra and made the experience of that higher energy in lifting up in the body.
That energy is always new, that is the meaning of new, if only silence we don't know what is new and what is not new. If we are flying as the man coming in our dream to awake us said, 'I wanted to fly', we get out of old patterns and we are in an experience new again in that very moment, we did it twice a day to get new always again.
It is much stronger than just mediation, it is purifying the mind. It was systematic and we did it every day, but that created habit and by that it gets old again and it is time that makes it not new in the long run, just the experience in that very moment is new.
It is about direct experience, it is about all possibilities in the now.
Without dedication to true speech, his wisdom, the scriputures, Veda, truth, he is truth, every word he said is based on truth, we don't get that joy. When he said, 'you and I are We and we and he is I', it is about the principle, just truth, another way to tell the Westerners, listen it is easy, just let go of 'you and I' and always we, we are the singers, we are the mediators, we are the study circle, we are the Seva, we and no 'you and I' and if we keep that in mind and it is a principle, 'we' and He is truth, if everything we do is based on 'we' and He (truth) it is I (Swami) and it is dedication to true speech.
Swami is not silence, he is truth and truth has to manifest, if it is silence, it gets lost. It has to inspire others, if it is silence it is mind.
Writing is also dedication to true speech. It is the word, without word there is no contact, without words we cannot reach anybody, without words there is no meaning. It is aboutt dedication to true speech, all the dreams and the man coming in our dreams to awake us, we have to think it over in the light of his words and watch and listen it will be dedication to true speech. If we wouldn't think it over, we just meditate, there would be no sharing and no contact, it would be purely selfish only focused on my meditation in our room and it would not be dedication of true speech.
The problem is that those who want to change in the movement try to change, but they don't know how and they don't listen really and they don't get it. They want to listen to people who are success and wealthy and VIPs and they hope to get an answer and that is how they listen to someone they think is dedicated to true speech.
In the centers is mostly singing, after singing maybe eating together sometimes, there is no mediation together and there is nothing of that what we have in sharing words together based on the dedication of true speech.
That they don't know at all, there is study circle, but as it is only pass time, we want to go to an exposition and the study circle is going on every fourteen days, the exposition is not every fourteen days, that is how we pass the time.
There is not enough dedication to true speech, nobody listens really and gets by that the importance of being dedicated to true speech. The lecturers in Prashanti are in that dedication of true speech that is why they tell us, we don't know that we don't know, that is based on true speech.

When you satisfy God, the entire world will be satisfied with you. If God disowns you, then the world will also disown you. Hence, there is no need for you to make efforts to please this person or that person.

We cannot satisfy God without dedication to true speech. We cannot please God in only silence, because he is everywhere, the whole is his and all human beings and they cannot be reached if we don't have dedication it to true speech, the message gets lost and that is why we got the study helps.
With just singing devotional songs and eating spaghetti nothing get changed, that they change something in socializing is not right, it is based on the duality feeling and the ignorance is strong. If the desire is not dedication to true speech, it will be the pursuit of petty desires, because we don't think big enough.

Do not waste your life in the pursuit of mean and petty desires. Make earnest efforts to please God. When you please God and become dear to Him, the entire world will become yours.

We cannot please God if we keep silence, because of that reason, we are not dedicated to true speech, we are not dedicated to service, we just do our petty job on the world level. If we are dedicated to true speech we are in the service of the divine and in that sense the same, he is the world teacher and it is not possible if we remain in silence, it needs silence as well, but we have to know when we have to be dedicated to true speech and when silence is better.
Writing is dedication to true speech, when thinking about socializing with spaghetti  what is for more pain than pleasure, silence is better.
it should be dedication to true speech, but it is not.
We have to the reality as it is and it is not good, no meditate, no change of the mind and no being aware of the how to turn the key on the other side. There is lots of pain as it seems the basic principle and practice is not understood.

Thyagaraja sang, "Oh Rama! If I have Your Grace (Anugraha), all the nine planets (navagraha) will become subservient to me." To become recipients of God's grace, treat the pairs of opposites like pleasure and pain, happiness and sorrow, praise and blame with equal-mindedness.

The world at your feet if it is dedication to pure speech and joy will be the biggest experience. If there is dedication with true speech there is inside contact, he is dedicated to true speech and that is joy. In words dedicated to true speech is in his the presence, the highest or greatest pleasure and even if it is beyond  worldly level it gives you the world as he is telling us here and the grace of God.

Always contemplate on God's Divine Name and become deserving of His love. Once you become the recipients of God's love, you need not be afraid of anything. You will achieve everything in life. Therefore, develop equal-mindedness and make efforts to earn divine grace.

That is what Swami is telling us, we should be dedicated to true speech, only truth and sharing with others is the main thing, God is everywhere, not only our family, not only our country, but the whole universe.
Dedication to true speech is the fulfillment, highest and therefore, it is the real thing and what needs to be done as service to the divine, there is nothing higher. The true speech is the only thing that is possible to change it, to make aware what is missing and why it doesn't work. There is no other instrument than that, with singing alone we cannot change it. Dedicated to true speech means also listen and listening is God.
